    I like!!!

Man, I don't know what I'd do with myself if I drove past that yard and saw those new(er) trucks!

Get a wider shot of the lineup for me?

I guess 5 year old trucks are newer than most CDL mills use

Most do for those reasons but self respect of many causes them to refuse to accept the abuse BFI's hand out to desperate wannabes who feel a sleeper is a warmer place to sleep than a cardboard box .
There is no excuse for the rough patches being that rough .

True, no excuse for the way BFI's operate. But, what does that have to do with this thread regarding the schools new VET truck?

I know nothing about this school. But he does say most of their students get local jobs. --And that's the route I took right out of school, So it sounds plausible to me.

It might just be the area of the Country I live, but there are a h3ll of a lot more local trucks on the road around here then BFI trucks. We need schools to train those drivers too.

Some schools are culpable of feeding the machine that is BFI. But labeling ALL schools as culpable is like accusing all trucking companies as being BFI's.

Anyway, I'm not trying to pick a fight. If you have dirt on this school, I'm all ears.

Yea I don't know....if this guy has a truck set aside for the strict purpose of training veterans, and helps them out in a better way than others, than good for him.

No need to knock him for that.

I never read that it was strictly for training vets . Don't kid yourself . Whoever came up with the idea for this truck planned it as a great way to get GI bill money . Do they use their profit to actually support veterans and their families ? One company I worked for invited members of local veteran organizations to come to the terminal for a free BBQ on Veteran's Day . Many restaurants give vets free meals . So what real support has this school given ?

I'm not so sure that they are obligated to financially support veterans or vet groups. It's a marketing ploy, not unlike the marketing any other business uses to get new clients. I'm a vet, didn't expect nor did I get any special treatment when I attended ASD. Got good instruction, at least enough to pass the CDL test in California. I paid what I consider VERY LITTLE for the school. I started at a garbage school around the corner (Sky-Bay.... yeah, I'm calling that disaster of a school out), came to ASD with my permit, and STILL paid the full amount for ASD and it was worth every penny.

Why do you think restaurants give free meals to Vets? It's good for business, great publicity.

Of course it is. But not all restaurants do that, do they? I think it's a good thing that they are going after vets. With all the folks getting out these days due to the shrinking military budgets, they are going to need jobs. There aren't enough jobs to go around. Who knows, maybe they'll start giving some sort of discount for vets. Every little bit counts. Having a truck dedicated to training Vets is a nice feature, imo.
