Years ago I delivered to the produce market in Phliiy. It is gated and they let you park overnight, not sure if that same place is still around. I parked and saw they had porta-poties. I went in and saw a whole bunch of used needles, I went back to the truck and didn't feel to safe being there.

Another place I didn't feel to safe at was the old produce market in Chicago. I got in there after a hot run and I stopped at the entrance as I had no idea where to go. I had people saying hey we will watch your truck for five bucks, I had people coming from everywhere asking me for money. I was a little worried. It actually worked out OK because this one guy comes up to me and says I know exactly where your receiver is and I'll show you where it is and help you get backed in for 30 bucks. I said fine, can I get a receipt from you and he said yes. Considering there were trucks all over the place and so many docks all over the place and I had no idea where to go, it was money well spent.

I have heard many stories about Memphis and I have been there many times as I am sure many of you have been to Memphis many times. I have heard stories of truck drivers being robbed the second they stepped out of their truck, thankfully nothing like that has happened to me. I did hear stories about people trying to sell truck drivers drugs, then calling the cops on them to get money helping to bust drivers. Something like that happened to me. I was driving through Memphis on my was to deliver not far from Graceland and two people come up to the truck trying to sell me weed. I say no, I don't want any weed, thanks anyway I'll be on my way. They then proceeded to throw it into my truck, saying just take it, it's free. I threw it back at them and said, I don't want your weed, leave me alone.

I grew up and still live in Queens so I don't scare real easily. But the funnist thing I ever listened to was two drivers complaining that the got cheated in a drug deal at the Petro in West Memphis. They were in the CB going on and on about how broke they were and could have really used that $300 the got cheated out of. That was the funniest stuff I ever heard.

Danang is nothing like Ho Chi Minh City today. Everytime you leave your home you put your life on the line. Driving here is chaos to the max, and life is still cheap as it was during the war. Three months left in this place and back to civilization in the good old USA for me!

If you watch the First 48, there was a murder case last year where an OTR driver was shot and killed in his sleeper while parked overnite in an industrial park and yes they did catch the trash that did it. Can happen anywhere though.
