Well yeah im heading to Tunnel Hill for orientation for the 14th, and im nervous as hell. I have a few questions, i hope you guys can help me answer them.
1. What does the road test consist of? Im hoping i don't have to hook a trailer up because i never done that. My school basically said i'll learn that when im in training with my company.
2. How often do people get sent home, and what are things that will make them send you back home. im broke and hope i dont have to find my way back on myself. I didnt lie on my application and im drug free.
3. While im out with a trainer how often can i expect to stop by a walmart or any store besides a truckstop?
4. This is something i should ask my recruiter but on the list of things to bring they state to bring a voided check for direct deposit, the problem is i dont have checks because i ran out like 5 months ago and dont use them(who uses checks anyway?). I got an official direct dopsit form from my bank with my routing and account number on it, will this work?
5. How is the housing in Tunnel Hill?
6. How is the terminal in Tunnel hill, and what is located around it?(stores, restaurant etc.)
7. When i get off the bus in GA what should i expect to happen? (another question i should i asked her)
8. what kind of trucks do nooblets normally get fresh of the training block?
Sorry for all the questions, i know all of them i should have asked her before i got off the phone, but i just couldn't think of all the many questions i had floating around my head.
Nervous nooblet leaving for the 14th

They didn't even show you how to hook up a trailer? Geez, I went to crappy road master and they even showed us that.

1. Thats the simplest thing you'll do driving a truck. lol
2. If you have a good aptitude, no worry.
3. Daily
4. Yes, or you can write comchecks via comdata most likely.
5. Your house will be a semi. Nah dont know on that one..
6. Probably, but you wont live at the terminal, avoid terminals if possible...
7. As long as you dont get mugged, you are taken to a motel I think. Maybe tazered not sure. But Im sure you will be instructed.
8. A 1975 Cabover Pete with a reefer, thats illegal in 45 states. Probably a 06-2011 freightliner...Maybe a brand new one.TheRedskinsWay Thanks this. -
Yep, they didn't show me how to unhook or hook. If I didn't have to do it on my cdl test they didn't show me. All I learned was shifting, straight backing, and alleydock that's all. I'll agree my school and the Instructors sucked!

Please post the school that you went to! Sounds like people should be warned away!
Other than that comment, I can't answer any of your questions as I no nothing about USX.
But being nervous in your situation is not a bad thing. In fact, if you were NOT nervous at this point in your "career" there would be something wrong with you. About all you can do is take it one step at a time, and see what happens.
FWIW, I wish you nothing but the best of luck!TheRedskinsWay Thanks this. -
