any info on Poly Trucking?

    Spent the last three days in orientation at Poly-Trucking.
    Day 1) paperwork in the morning, company paid lunch, road test & pick your truck (old truck)
    Day 2) more paperwork, health benefits presentation, meet other people, lunch paid for by driver, more paperwork (logs), get company identification card, Comdata card
    Day 3) meetings with different department personnel, lunch paid for by driver, more meeetings with company personnel, get load assignment that takes you home so you can load your stuff

    Like what I see so far.

    So, how do you like poly trucking so far, just found an add for them in a truckers website and says that they hire in Wisconsin. I called for more info and left phone number, no reply as of yet, did download app. off of there website and will mail in Any info would be great.

    keep us posted. I've seen their trucks pass us Cretens, had thought about them, but the per diem gave me second thoughts. What is the new 'IRS approved' per diem rate?

    Overall I like working here. While it is required to log legal they will not force you to take anything outbound (i.e. a trip leaving Grand Prairie, Henderson,NV). However, backhauls you must take unless you can't legally run the miles. So far rthis has not been a problem.

    As for calling them and getting a call back....FORGET IT! They will not speak with you until you have submitted and application and then been contacted by them. But, I did send an email with questions and they did reply to that.

    I agree that kind of sucked, but what other OTR company pays you $12.50 an hour for three days of orientation?

    The per diem pay did give me cause for concern. But the new system is much better. i.e. The .48 per mile is figured this way.... 2600x.48= $1248, it took 5 days to run those miles, 5x$58(the daily per diem allowed by the IRS)=$290(non taxable). $1248-$290=$958(the amount that gets taxed).

    This new system still has a flaw...the IRS says we can only deduct 80% of $58 which is $46.40 per day. Therefore, we are still being overpaid on the per diem by $11.60 per day which means the driver could be liable for the taxes on that amount. Not sure what the ramifications actually are or will be, but I am planning ahead just in case.

    On my normal 325 days a year, I would be under taxed on $3770. Not sure I could make that up on other deductions. Not being a business owner (O/O) I am not sure what the regular tax rate is on someone making $60,000ish. So, I am not sure how much tax on that $3770 I would still owe, and how much FICA/SS I would owe as well.

    Three reasons why not, 1) did not want to be forced to take sleep test 2) did not want to stay out 4 plus weeks anymore 3) higher rate of pay at Poly with less micro management.
