I plan to get fingerprinted Thursday or Friday, my new carrier requires haz mat. Not happy about it, but I am told the extra pay is good.

I drove a 9400 the while time I was there, ICON didn't work. Some ol' boy showed me how to jump out 2 pins on the diagnostic plug with a paper clip. The result? Engine would never shut off, the QC display would show "no rpm" and you could read the QC while driving. Neat trick!

I did it the whole time I was there, no one ever said a word.

When i 1st got my 9400i the diagnostic was missing the cap cover ( on lower dash next to key )
1st time I had truck looked at in roanoke va shop told me was suppose to Hv a cover on the diagnostic plug where was it? I said Idk I just picked up the truck I did nothing to it. He said were gonna put a new
1 bit you better leave it there or you will get a fine the next time its missing.... I said wow you serious wtf is that? He said a lot truck drivers are pulling them off to mess with the truck like make them faster and all kinds of stuff. That's bull though maybe they were just trying to scare me or something not to mess with the trucks Idk who cares lol I don't anyway and I cud care less who does ha ha.

What does any1 think about this ???

I think you need to make sure that cap stays on. Also if you ever get another tractor make sure that caps on and if it is not report it. There might have been some hyperbole coming from that mechanic, but you never know.

I didn't have a cap on my 9400i. Was in the shop a few times with nothing being said. One of the shops was VanBuren too.

Picked the truck up in Spartanburg, SC... but the shop never looked at the truck there. My original truck was stripped down to the block when I was told it was finished. The guys at the shop said that they had another truck that was done at the international dealer, and they were heading to get it now. Ask your FM if you can get that one instead.

I got it and was glad to have that one even though it didn't have all the comforts I would have liked. It was the truck that I kept the longest and was probably in the shop less then the other two trucks I had less then 5 months.

Heartland is a good company. If you look at their CSA scores, they are really really good. They do not hire newbies or trainees, they are actually a little harder to get on with. I have talked to some heartland drivers, one has been there over 20 years. If you have the experience, pay is over 50 cents in the northeast regional, so 2000 miles up there doesn't work out bad. they also have salaried and dedicated spots. I would recommend them. USA.... no.
