How about 3 am and the spot next to you opened up during the night. The new truck backing in has backup beepers and takes 15 minutes to get into spot.

yes......that's happend a few times to me....It's irratating as well. But I must say that there's something about the sound of an air horn that just makes my heart pound when I get awakend the noise. Then, I get incredibly mad. One other time that comes to mind was in Lamar, Pa. A guy flies into the fuel pumps in a big hurry. Fuels up, pays for fuel, gets into truck and takes off, lays on the air horn to a truck that wasn't even in his way and then on top of that cut someone off who was in the middle of backing into a parking spot. When the person yelled at him for being rude, guess what.......Of coursre he could not be reached for comment on the CB....I hate those types of drivers.

How about the jack legs that think they need back up alarms on their trucks??? And then don't know how to back into a spot so they spend about 15 mins of backing and pulling forward. That one chaps my butt too.... along with the horn blowing morons and the brain dead 10 time losers that run straight pipe jakes in the lot at 5 mph.... or the ones that grab out 5 gears just going from their parking spot to the corner and then jake it down for the turn.
zentrucking and cpassey Thank this. -
Good Points you make....The Jake in the parking lot is another major truck stop offense. I was in NC at the J at about 3 am or so (asleep) and some jack head was looking for a parking spot doing laps around the lot with a loud ##s jake brake. Scared the #### out of me and I got on the radio to cuss him out. He never answered......Why don't they ever answer? People like that need to be punished...

Back up beeping doesnt bother me to much
But those dm jakes annoy the f out of me theirs no reason for it.
If their brakes dont work fix em i think the problem lies in how some our
taught. I talked to one guy who told me he was taught to drive with the jakes on all the time i thought wtf.
Please dont forget plenty of truckers myself included comeout at night and prefer to sleep during the day. -
I've often thought the same would be a good idea....(Drive at night sleep durring daytime but it hasn't worked for me because I have to unload, and reload durring the daytime which can take up most of the day). How do you do it?
-
Iv been doing it since i was a kid stay up all night go to school get home sleep wake up stay up all night.
Then my other non driving job was always the graveyard shift. Im a night person always have been.
Not that i mind driving during the day I just would always prefer to drive at night.
Iv been sleeping at night lately somewhat so waking up at between2am and 6 am and starting my day.its ok but i love the clean cool crisp air of night. Im a night person sometimes im both in the same day.But if your tired enough it really doesnt matter close the curtain and enjoy. -
How many hours sleep are you getting?
-
Wtf idot internet dept of transportation.
i get plenty of sleep. yesterday i stopped from2pm to 6 am this morning
7 stops later i have stopped again and i will wake up when i feel like it tommarow.
If im tired enough i will just tell disp to wait until morn to give the next load.
I did that last mon and took a 34.
I get the sht done dont stop inbetween that often saves loads of time
Mostly getting enough sleep is about planning
I found that having a tv in the truck kept me awake when i should of been sleeping so i havnt had a tv in a truck for years.
But to answer the question i think you wanna know is,
I feel very refreshed with 8-12 hours of sleep. depending on how tired i am and whether or not i wake up in the middle of my rest for one reason or another. -
I'm gonna try that ........I hate driving in the daylight, trying to fight with the 4 wheelers....thanks
