Most likely the school will be like most of the company used mills out there... They are there to get your CDL and push you out the door. Don't teach you how to be a truck driver, just teach how to drive a truck enough to get your CDL.

was hoping it would be just a little better than that being that it is not an official driver solutions school but one that they contract out to. but youre right, prolly not. I will take it for what its worth, use it for what i need and try to get on a decent trainers truck with my mind open, ears open and mouth shut other than to ask pertinent questions.

The trainer thing would be the only area of concern that I have. Granted we have some really good trainers in this company but we also have some really crappy ones. I've never agreed with the fact that they let people become trainers so early. 9 months experience are you serious? I reported one back in October who had let his student hit another truck in a truck stop in Houston and drive off. The night before it took both of us ground guiding to get his student backed into a parking space. He told me he'd just finished his C1 contract and that was his first student. Last time I was in Van Buren, I watched one tell his student to go get something to eat out of the vending machine if he was hungry while he had pizza and wings delivered to himself. Some of these folks are truly in it for the perception of higher income and not to make sure we have qualified drivers on the road.

Here is USA Trucks official pay policy:
Once every two months your check will be right.
No matter how many times you pay to have loads scaled in a week, you will not be reimbursed for at least a month. By the time you get the money back you've already built up another nice scale ticket hole in your bank account. It's a vicious cycle for someone just starting out at .25 cents a mile.
It will take you at least a week to get a hold of payroll since they never answer the phone or transfer you as soon as you utter a word.
You will be directed to drive out-of-route for scheduled maintenance or to swap a load and your fleet manager will not put the added mileage into the system. You will try to remind him or her of this discrepancy all week leading to the end of the pay period. Friday morning comes and the miles will not be there. Repeat.
If detention pay is absolutley justified your fleet manger will say something amongst the lines of, "I turned it in yesterday". This will go on for weeks. Maybe you'll get it, maybe you won't.
At around two months you will have been f#$%ed with so much that you will become completely apathetic and despondent, just counting the days away for that contract to be up.

Why don't you tell us how you really feel? LOL. Sorry you are having so much trouble but I do find it hard to believe that every driver is going through the same thing as you or worse. While I do believe it does happen, but from what I can gather on this post, it has all to do with COMMUNICATION and your relationship with your FM. Do mistakes happen, of course they do. The trick is not trying to bite everyones head off when they do. When you do they are not to likely to try to help you very quickly in the future. You can get more bees with honey than you get with vinager!!!

I stopped driving for them in Aug of last year. While I did not check each and every pay stub I do know I saw 1 or 2 cat scale entries on most of them. I never had a problem calling any dept there if I had to. Most of the time if I left a message it got returned. Come on guys we all know USA Truck has problems but it's never been my experience they were that bad. I remember several times having to go out of route to get something fixed, most of the time my FM got me paid for those miles.
