I70 from just before Effingham most the way to the IN line musta got slammed with that ice/snow storm that moved east. There was what was left of an R & L double wagon just west of the I70/I57 construction zone. 1 trailer was upside down w/o any wheels west of an overpass, the dolly was mangled in front of it, the other trailer(or what was left of it) was sorta a pile of rubble just before the overpass. I guess the driver lived, but a passenger in a car that was in between the R/L and an SUV that spun and hit the guardrail, was killed. East of that, I70 looked like a junkyard. At the Pilot exit, thers was a Stevens thru the left guardrail, and an England went down that steep 100' bank that the Pilot's exit loops around...still upright, but I bet the driver is still in surgery getting the seat removed from his butt. Another truck musta jack-kniffed in front of a Swift O/O, because his truck and the front part of his trailer up to the landing gear were on one side of the road, the Swift, windshield deep in the side of his upside down remanants of his trailer and freight in a big pile, were in the median. And that was just a part of the ice follies... There were more than a dozen (trucks mostly) that were still there(most of the cars were probably already towed, but lots of empty skid marks and muddy holes in the ground where they were parked). There was even 1 truck completely on it's roof...all 18 facing skyward. The only fatality I heard of was the one involving the R/L.

For you noobs that monitor this thread. Always remember this saying when driving in the winter. "When it snows, take it slow. When its ice, no dice!". SSB's post above is a reminder for us all to get off the road in ice. You cannot safely run on ice.
Motorhead01 Thanks this.
