I started out saying things like that to dispatch but I've learned that once you get to that point you might as well look for another job because you're probably not going to get good miles. Just my observations.

I agree, it's just that I'm of the opinion that dispatch/fleet management needs to be trained, king of like a dog. I tend to be humorous/sarcastic, for example I had received a qualcom message wanting me to deliver an 800 mile load in about 4-5 hours, my reply was "Sorry, the transporters are off line and the warp core is down". (Chewy the hyper drive is broken, it's not my fault".) They did get the point. My Grandam said it best "You catch more flies with sugar than you do with vinegar." In any case humor seems to work for me and keeps me on an even keel.

I have tried the sense of humor, but they only get my knock-knock jokes.

LOL. too funny SS. We all know they're dumber than they look (or at least act that way), so I guess it's to be expected.

Anyone care to offer information and an opinion on Crete's Health Insurance. Specifically, what's it cost the driver per week (for family - wife and one child)? What are the deductibles? Is 80/20 after the deductible? And what is the maximum out of pocket. Prescription plan, dental, etc. Thanks,

Yea I found out fairly quickly that they don't get humor over the qualcomm. Most dispatchers don't even get the simplest humor. I think they almost expect you to give them a hard time because they get it so often from other drivers. Can't really blame them I guess. I try to keep my mouth shut most of the time. I usually start taking action after I've been screwed for about the third or fourth time. It's hard to just sit there and take it.

I believe the last time I tried humor on one of those 800mi in 8 hours loads, it went something like, "cannot deliver load on offer on time, rocket booster is broken from overuse (then I offered an actual eta if they wanted me to accept)". Their reply, "for equipment issues, msg breakdown, please accept offer". I accepted, and then they had a fit because they had to change the appointment, until explained that they should actually read my message and tell me where I did something wrong... Their reply, we're too busy to read every message all the way through...but couldn't explain why they didn't read the 1st few words since it started out 'rocket booster is broken'...these people are clueless!!! They are too busy planning their next cow-tipping party before the next Hee-Haw show reunion.

Got to love the office help that thinks they are being efficient by NOT reading the message. Which then caused them more work.

I hear you loud and clear on the clueless part. It is amplified over weekends. Went from 600 mile/5 days to 2200 in 2.5. Delivered the first one in 1.5 days and informed them they needed to add a day for the second. Alas, it was the weekend and the customer didn't answer the phone. Come Monday there was disbelief that the delivery appointment had to be moved out one day.....shheeeesh. I told them that my tractor had no "warp factor".:biggrin_25512:
