I bought a Dish way back in 1999 as a gift for someone, but they did not want it. So I brought it out of storage, brand new, with the receiver and everything to the truck. Set it up when I had some time and called Dish TV. Long story short she said it wouldn't work, would I hold on while they tried to sell me some other crap.
My question is, why wouldn't it work? Just point it at the sky and have a live account it should work right?

OK that makes sense. I guess I will just wrap it up and save it for my son to take to the Antiques Roadshow in 48 more years lol.

VuQube 30..... stuck in tech heck. First I lost Sat 129 so no HD. About a month ago I lost Sat 119. All I could get was 110. I noticed I lost the SW64 when I ran the switch check. I called VuQube and they told me to call Dish. I called Dish and they told me to call VuQube. I am now stuck with waiting until I get back home to get to my tech since I have no idea if the VuQube is the problem or the receiver is the problem. Pain in the arse......

IMO the vuqube is a waste of money, there are always so many complaints about the 1000 series being hard to sight in, ill be honest with you, many people who add a dish to the catwalk on a pole they can raise up and down are killing themselves, I dont know how they tune it in, but here is my easiest solution. I work smart not hard.
I have a standard Directv receiver, and a tv in my truck, I use the old standard 18 in dish; that i put up everytime I stop; onto a 1 1/2 in PVC pipe, that is u-bolted to my passenger mirror. When I stop, i turn on the receiver and go to programming, enter the zip code to where i am located (most receipts or a Google search will give you info) and it will show me the elevation and azimuth. Set these. Then turn on the tuner program channel where it will beep. I then place my dish on the PVC pole, and rotate it around to the general SW skies and listen for the 85-100% beeps (faster beeps better signal) Then I am locked on, complete the programming, it downloads and I am watching TV. I can be up and going in 5 mins, and no headache, and after parts and labor i still have at least $350 bucks in my pocket because I didn't get a vucube.
The picture was from the old truck at the pumpkin, but you get the idea. Any questions feel free to message me.

Great info, thanks
Do you have Direct Tv at home and just use the extra receiver on the road ?
Any interference when trucks drive by ?
