Just wondering anyone fully on elogs? just wondering how long did you run both before log dept gave the ok to quit paper?
-
I ran from late Nov to Dec 31. Call logs, they have to ok. They want you to start elogs only on the 15th or 1st. Good luck!

I am still doing both...mainly because I am fighting doing it by Crete's "minimum required time" policy and I can't be approved to transition until I do. In fact the log-nag wanted me to call her about something or other on my e-log yesterday....sorry, put it in writing sister so I have a hard copy. I think it was going to be about my new plan... When I don't need the full 30 min.... I log it like I do it then add a notation about "30 min not req this loc, (chk q/c msg times)"...like daddy always said, "life is like a box...." Oh wait, that was Forest's line(and it was his mama I think)... My daddy always said C.Y.A.(cover your arse) by putting that there, not only does it cover me for the regulations, but it puts a pinpoint on specific days and times where the company policy would have made me falsify so when I go to file a complaint, I will have dates and times of the violations...plus nasty-grams at home. After all these people wouldn't be happy if you crapped them a solid gold turd...they would probably write you up for improperly cleaning and sanatising it before handing it over to the Supreme Leader in High Command...then force you to watch a series of videos about turd safety and how it affects us all, then go through turd safety class and recertification.Last edited: Feb 10, 2012

In Sept 09 I was asked to do elogs. I did both for about a week and called them up asking to be strictly elogs. They wanted me to spend some time doiing both, but after another wek they sent me a msg to go solely elogs.
As a side note. I had to trade trucks around Christmas. I was leaving containers and they said they needed mine because it had a sliding 5th wheel. So I get my 2010 Prostar and no elogs. Took me about a week to figure out how to do paper logs again. I get a call from my 5erminal mgr. He says I got dinged 15 safety points! I was logging everything right except I was using East coast time. 15 safety points!!! He says that I have to take a short class and sign some papers and they'll credit me 5 back.
Can't win in this game.

I spoke to a 'W' driver not long ago that insisted that the only way he would work here is if they would promise he would be put on e-logs because he was like you, had been off paper so long, he wasn't sure he could go back.
Honestly, I don't see the overall 'legal' advantage of e-logs. Except for drive time....everything else can be altered, including line 4...
I spoke to a driver in Marietta who said he did both for all of 5 days and has been e-logging ever since. -
Wow, this thread is still going! I figured it would die since evertruckerr left trucking for greener pastures. I haven't had time to get on this site much lately; been workin' my tail off. Ran out of hours on my 70 today in Wells, NV, after driving just under 400 miles and delivering the 3rd drop on this load along the way, in Orem, UT (started in Little America, WY today). Yesterday I started in York, NE...made a drop in Kearney, NE and put 702 miles on the odometer before I got to Little America. The day before that I started in Rolling Prairie, IN and did 625 miles and a drop in Des Moines, IA before getting to York. And on Tuesday it was 613 miles (Hickory Run, PA to Rolling Prairie, IN), all done within 11 hours of when I started my pre-trip inspection.
Now I restart in Wells, then Sunday I drive to Yuba City, CA and spend the night, making my last drop in Oroville at 8am Pacific time on Monday. So yeah, I've been busy this week too. -
Ran into similar issues. Yes, you watch a video and receive counseling frin a manger at a yard to get the 3 points back. Other than SS, who is fighting the logging requirements?.
I like elogs as they hold the company ultimately responsible, as long as the driver
adheres to the regulations. After 11 hours, 14 hours, or 70 hours in 8 days..I am ready for a break.
Don't have to worry about whick time zone, I am in or going to ....computer does all the math. Really nice when you want to do an 8 split.

Well I made it home finally. 49 days out...Geez, had to call home for directions because even my GPS forgot where home was...plus had to invest in a few bucks in some good steak, so I could decoy the dog so I could make it in the house before she attacked.
I got to read the nasty-gram once I got home...She doesn't know what she has done. These points were assessed after I had offered to get the DOT involved, which means, since I wasn't being awarded points for doing the exact same thing before I threatened going to the DOT...it may be classified as an attempt to punish me for whistleblowing...which is a FEDERAL crime punishable by not only fines but possibly prison time, and civil litigation...basically...major deep doooo-dooooo!
I promise I will be a better boss than the current incarnation of micromangers -
SS, you going into management with Crete? The best bosses are the ones who remember what it is like to actually do the job.
