The Clorox hard surface spray does not leave a cloroxy smell on the dishes!

I thought that water at the fuel island wasn't potable?

Heck, I've brushed my teeth in a TS bathroom every morning. I refuse to go a day without brushing my teeth. Thats nasty. If I wake up at a rest stop with no facilities, or in a shippers lot, pull out the extra jugs of potable water, brush my teeth behind the trailer and rinse the brush with the bottle of water. Same with shaving except just use a bowl. I've stood in front of mirrors at FJ's, Pilots, and TA's with 4-6 other drivers shaving and brushing our teeth in the morning.

It's not. For those of you who don't know what "non potable" means; "not safe for drinking"

I have seen drivers rinsing out their thermos with the water hose on the fuel island. When I see this i do mention to the driver he has just contaminated his thermos and point to the sign that says non potable water on the pole.

Newnash, just read your question to my wife. She is still laughing! One way you can avoid most of this is paper plates and the cheap throw away tupperware you can get at walmart. Some of you that cook in your truck will need to wash dishes no matter what. Obviously they don't make throw away crock pots! We use to wash our dishes in the coffee sink. I just couldn't get past washing them in the bathroom. Course the coed bathrooms/showerooms are cleaned after each use, so are most likely cleaner then any sink in the truck stop!

Maybe you could tip the waitress an extra $5-10 to do your dishes while you eat or take a shower!

I will Clorox the hell out of my dishwater, idk I get agitated if I am washing dishes and there is no bleach around. I know when I am out there on the road I will be getting the color safe bleach and keeping it in the truck, and also Lysol wipes for the bathrooms, I can wipe the toilet seat clean before I park my bottom down and Lysol the handles, that's just a way of cleaning some of the germs.

Soooo this leads me to ask....where do you suppose this "non-potable" water comes from? I am not saying I use it and have no reason to anyways there are way better places to get water from than some dirty old hose that has been in a million truckers hands.

I think its more the conditions the hose is used in or the type of hose that makes it non potable than anything else....because any water that comes out of a non-food grade hose is technically non-potable.

Non-potable water also known as reclaimed water is not treated for human consumption and is, in most cases, distributed in separate pipes altogether.

I'm guessing it's a result of the high cost of filtering and treating water with the fact that a certain amount of water is used for other purposes other than drinking.
