Well....Tomorrow after I drop two cans at the port...I'm headed back to Cummins....Three times in three weeks for EGR problems....Gee...I'm so lucky to be in compliance with CARB....BTW....My rig smokes worse than a B Model Mack running up the Cajon right now...Thanks to that great technology of the EGR.....
-
For you CARB Nazis out there...If I get pulled in with my rig and you snap test it as is...Would I get a ticket?
I'm asking because I hear you guys are patrolling the ports.... -
Did you dig deep? This would be a good place to start-
Financial Opportunities for California Trucks
The Air Resources Board (ARB) has several financial opportunity programs that provide grants, loans and loan guarantees, vouchers, or rebates to help truck and equipment owners with the purchase of cleaner trucks and equipment.

Carb has been out of control for years! Co and New jersey run with them I was a Mechanic and certified on all of the new smog rules and able to do smog checks. then I got smart and started teaching this stuff and ended up having the inspector from the state in my class. you should see these guys trying to figure the rules out themselves. Nice guys, but the regs are ridiculous

To much electronics in the engines now a days.
Not sure why any one would put an EGR in a diesel exhaust any way, It just gets clogged up with carbon after a while.
EGR systems in a diesel lowers combustion temperature, This makes combustion less efficient, compromising economy and power. ("Not what we want at all")
EGR also increases soot production, though this was mitigated in the US by the simultaneous introduction of diesel particulate filter and yet another problem in the system to deal with.
EGR systems can also add abrasive contaminants and increase engine oil acidity, which in turn can reduce engine longevity.
EGR systems are ok for gas engines but no good for diesel engines

Yes I have....Thank you very much....None of it applies to me...I run outside Cali more than 51% of the time....Which even though I'm IRPed in Cali..Negates the help...And again...Because I'm not a minority owned biz...That negates everything according to the rules......
Cali is all about chasing out non-Designated bizzes....Plain and simple....
Why do you think most bizzes are relocating to NV?
Funny...NV doesn't require a biz to be designated to obtain state contracts..... -
Btw...CARB sent me an email shortly after I registered my rig for the ports as a "Clean Truck"....In it...I was informed that the "Useful Life" of my truck was 10 years...So after that time I must replace the truck with a new truck to remain compliant....Apparently.....CARB thinks that PACCAR just gives those trucks away for free.....
My rig is an '09 that I purchased new in March of '10....So according to CARB...In Jan of '21...I must have a new rig to run in Cali.....Lucky for me...I can retire in '21 and tell CARB to "Go Pound Sand!!!" -
EGR's by design...Are designed to fail....
Think about it....You have exhaust and crankcase gasses that are being routed unfiltered to the EGR valve.....It's gonna get stuck.... -
My truck is a 2010 model year, but the DMV said the engine is 2009. Do you know if my truck meets the final requirements or the 10 year deal?
