Well for one I would say they advantages in working for USA is that in this economy, with the jobless numbers rising every week, if this is what you want to do and USA has hired you to go to school and give them a year, THANK THEM. You may love the company or you may hate the company after you get here. But they did give you exactly what you needed in this business. The experience needed to move onto another company at the end of your year if you so choose and your record is clean. As I see it everyones experience is going to be different. You are right, every job/company/person has their own set of problems/bull crappola, you just have to pick which brand of it fits you. Do your time, get your experience, learn all that you can or someone is willing to teach you, and at the end of your contract, YOU can decide what are the benifits and downfalls of working for USA Truck. If you read all of the threads/posts on this site I am sure you will find a happy medium between the both good advice and bad advice to weed out what might be actually true. In the end, not many OTR companies are paying for your training, putting you up in a hotel, and as long as your application completely checks out and you get your medical card and pass the drug screen, are guaranteeing you a job. Every experience is a learning experience. Even the really bad ones. Stay strong, do what is required of you, do what you said you would do in the interview, and after your contract is up, you will have a decision to make. Thats when your original question will be answered. You and only you can really know what the benifits or downfalls are in working for a company. And you get that with seat time. Good luck to you and I hope everything works out. I too am a newb as I have only finished my second week of school.

My two cents......thread wastage. Nothing personal but if advice is what you want or opinions about USA Truck then all you have to do is look through some of the already existing threads. It seems that every week we have a new thread open asking the same questions as last week's thread.

As far as the anecdotes and attitude go....i have to go with Bear. Nobody at C1 or USA will give two poops about what you did before. Not only that but other truckers won't care and customers won't care. I drove flat beds and drop decks for a year under fire in Iraq. Guess what...I still had to go through training and nobody cares. Almost 10 years in the Army and I'm treated the same as any other driver. I make my own reputation and let it speak for itself with my work ethic. The point these guys are trying to make is that whatever you did before has no bearing on what you are going into. It's ok to feel green and inadequate as everybody does when they start. But don't try to fluff yourself up. We have enough annoying drivers out there telling BS stories anyways, we don't need newbs trying to self inflate too.

As chemsoldier said... every few weeks someone new comes in asking the same question just in a different way.

I'll say what I usually say and that is... Give USA 6-8 months, after that it "usually" goes downhill. That is not saying it always is like that but from following other drivers and with my personal experience that it what it comes down to.

If you are looking for answers without any negativity of any kind then you have high expectations for a public forum. Especially when it comes to talking about a trucking company as every company has its positives and negatives... for me USA has more negatives then positives which is why I'm not there anymore and living much happier at my current company.

Thanks guys. I will do some more research and sift through some threads you guys have already posted... There's just sooo many on here, it's hard to even know where to begin to read. Plus there are soooo many transport companies too its almost overwhelming. But like you guys said in your posts, when I get out there and see what's actually going on, I'll probably be able to better know what company I want to go with then. Well thanks for your opinions... Maybe I'll run into your guys OTR one day, well NOT literally run into you... you know what I man. haha.

Congrats 4thegenerationtommy, im headed to Fort Wayne Indiana sunday to start school on Monday then off to USA Truck for orientation and training, that is if it all goes as planned. I do have a question for those who are with USA now or past, do they have or allow inverters, and is there a no cell phone rule in place no matter if you have a bluetooth or not? And what about idle time? Be safe out on the road.
