Well, around cranes and winch trucks, the swamper is the guy who hooks up the cables/chains to the load to be picked up.

Swampers are normally worms, although I've had a few who were gunsels.

What's a worm? def: A person regarded as pitiable or contemptible.
Worms are the second lowest life form in the oilfield. A gunsel is a worm's helper, which should tell you the answer to the unasked question.

 

I got all of that down cold......except the part after "Well, ......."

Hanging in Weatherford, OK watching the storms to the east. Been gone for a while due to home time and a faulty charger. Got a new one today at Walmart. Lightning is COOL.
