I agree with you 100%! If it's a safety issue, fine, report it........
but anything else, worry about yourself!

You get the "taddlers" everywhere. Even at the small terminal with a smaller company that I'm working for you get guys calling about stuff. It could be simple as not doing a PTI at the beginning of the day to leaving a hose hooked up to the rear of the trailer (which doesn't harm anything).

In general I won't bother my company with small time crap like riders etc etc, but there are two things I will report. If I see a driver drunk or taking any form of alcohol into their truck and any time I see a driver stealing fuel. I turned a guy in to safety about 6 weeks after I upgraded, he had been drinking and I could smell it on him. I found out later this driver was tested and fired. Sorry, but I refuse to share the road with anybody that does this. After that incident in Colorado back in late 2010 ALL you drivers should give serious thought to reporting this.

Again, I agree with you.........I REALLY enjoy my CAPTAIN MORGAN & Coke, especially on my boat!
BUT, drinking while cruizing around in a 80,000 lb CMV???????
And you're telling me that some drivers actually commit a FELONY and steal fuel???

I'm really looking forward to getting my CDL soon and becoming a "professional" driver.........I would hope EVERY trucker aspires to be a "professional", nothing less!

No what he means is when a company driver uses their company fuel (credit) card to pump fuel to somebody else in exchange for cash, usually to an owner operator. You will see this from time to time and if you get a cb you will hear it frequently. They will be talking about "discount diesel," "company fuel," "cut rate juice," etc. It's usually an automatic terminable offense at most companies and the carrier does have the option of reporting it as theft. At best you'd be out of a job with a negative DAC entry. It happens because drivers either are too stupid to realize it's a crime or think they are too slick for the company to catch them. Either way, there's plenty of lowlife O/Os out there who look for newbie or disgruntled company drivers to deal with. It's not ever worth the risk.

WOW! I appreciate that explanation, chemsoldier1............Are some people actually THAT STUPID?!? Like any other profession I guess you'll find drivers that are thieves!
Seems as though it would be very easy for "corporate" to spot crap like that!
ANY of you drivers that are "cheating" your company just go ahead and quit, that will open up a slot for me when I apply!
The last company I worked for told me on the first day not to screw with the "3 C's".........Customer, Cash and -unt! I didn't, stayed there 30 years!

$7.50 a month for a passenger. The money is for Insurance on the passenger. Its only after 30 days. Before 30 days you can't have another passenger.

Its all of what you make it, as you can see in other post its all about relationship with your FM. My fleet manager takes care of me from top to bottom from miles to making sure maintenance does not screw around. Keep an open mind and be flexible, and do your best to keep calm don't get angry over little issues and make drastic ill-minded decisions and you should do fine.

Based on my observations and reports I am getting from current drivers I would say generally no it's not. It's my understanding that close to 60% of the drivers there have less then a year's experience. The company's turnover rate is through the roof right now. Yes, there are drivers that are making money, but these drivers are the exception NOT the rule. Can this be turned around, yes it can. But before people start blaming the now ex VP over operations for all these problems just remember this company was on the skids way before he was hired. As I write this I am at the TA in Harrisburg Pa late last night I spoke to a USA Truck trainer over dinner. This person told me they were trying to stay positive but can't anymore. They got screwed over by their FM and was upset. I asked this driver what their plans were, I was told they had made no firm decisions to stay or quit. USA Truck is not the only carrier to have disgruntled drivers and ex drivers, but the company seems to have a huge amount of them. Oh and telling a driver who can't keep their truck out of the shop and/or can't get more then 1800 miles a week, that the job is what you make of it is cruel.
