I'm thinking about signing up with the "CDL Collage" in Aurora Colorado. Do any of you know anything about this school and do you have an opinion about getting your CDL this way

I dunno.
I've read about more than a few of those grist mills charging up to $5k large.
For truckin' school!?!?!?
Sheeeeeet...
You could set yourself up in a real occupation for that kind of scratch.
I'm talking home everynight, off every weekend, know your family.
Why live to work when you can work to live? -
Actually the place is called "CDL College" I think.
From looking at their website the price is $2800 and at least they're PTDI certified. No matter what school you go to they basically only teach you what you need to know to pass the CDL test. Some do this better and/or quicker than others.

I know this is an old thread but I wanted to share what I've learned abou this school.
I'm looking at this school, along with several others in the Denver area. Their basic OTR course is $3300 which is calculated at 168 clock hours of classroom (online), simulator, range and street driving. They state that you will have a total of 36 hours behind the wheel (18 hours on the range, 18 on the street). Simulator hours are not counted as behind the wheel. They also have shorter (less expensive) programs for those who only wish to drive locally or get their B or Bus license.
One thing noted, that I haven't seen elsewhere, is their statement that their course will prepare a person to be "second seat," and needs to gain experience actually working for a carrier tarping/chaining loads, paper work and living out on the road.
A couple of misleading statements on their website: their OTR program is "special price through the end of this month," of $3300. That seems to be their regular everyday price, not a special price. They have a PTDI-certified course (for $4500) but you have to ask the director about that program. The PTDI logo on their webpage takes you to the PTDI website, which lists the school as being certified through 8/2013, but it also notes the certification was suspended. I spoke to two different people at the school about this; one stated that the school had been late in sending in their annual renewal forms and payment, hence the suspension. The other person simply said "I didn't know about that," but also indicated that PTDI certification was important back in the 1980's but really didn't carry a lot of weight or importance these days.
The school is open 7 days a week. Since I still have a regular 8-5 type job, the online portion can be completed anytime and the BTW stuff can be scheduled on weekends. -
i went here a couple years ago, and i paid out of my pocket-got it for 2800 at the time-i thought they did a great job. got a lot of one on one attention, could show up whenever i wanted and leave whenever i wanted to get my hours in. it was a great experience, and when i went on to work for a company i found i had been given a lot more knowledge than everyone else who i was in training with.
also went to a company with tuition reimbursement, it turned out to be a great investment as far as im concerned especially since i got most of it back eventually. -
That's good to know. What kind of driving are you doing now (local, regional, OTR, solo or team) and what kind of equipment (T/T, straight truck, etc.) are you running?
Thanks -
I went there also back in Feb 2010

as of a couple months ago i took a local non driving job. i drove otr for 1.5 years and did well though. its just a matter of time before i get back driving, a normal job is just such a drag after having one i actually enjoyed. i still have a lot of applications with line haul type companies and i might check out local excavating companies when i get fed up.
