CRETE - A Year in Review

Does anyone know if we have a drop yard in Minneapolis or nearby, thanks.

 

Nothing up that way that I know of.

 

Never had to do the sleep study. I'm guessing (and that's all it is) is that because of my compliance with my existing machine, they let it go. Got a whole new HVAC bunk unit at Lincoln, followed by two nights of blissful rest. Turns out some 4-way conncector was partially melted, presumably because of too much amperage (at least that's what the tech told me). So I got a whole new unit.

Now I'm sitting in Louisville, KY waiting for my next load.

 

I was told all the new trucks that had DPF were CA compliant even when idling. Therefore during hot weather the truck could idle to provide needed A/C & the Espar Heater could provide heat without idling during cold days. This negated the need for an APU.

 

California isn't the only place with an idling law. Some laws have very different rules about clean air trucks, apu's, and ambient temps.

 

Yup....and now, in their infantile wisdom (not a typo), Crete has decided to max out the idle time at 90 minutes. Just in time for the hot weather and for the No-Idle HVAC systems to fail (as mine did).

I swear...I have no clue what some of the brass in these companies are thinking....typical love-hate relationship is what I have.

 

Drove by the Lincoln yard today, man there is alot of turn in trucks parked on the dirt lot!!

It is because only one person in Lincoln with a couple of initials behind his name (ie VP) has ever parked his butt behind the wheel of a truck. The rest only see $$. I bet if any of them had to spend one summer night without a/c...they'd be the biggest whiners in the office the next day...but it is perfectly acceptable for us 3rd class slaves to have to put up with it...or move on...but then they wonder why they have their turnover rate go up...and why we aren't dedicated to helping the company. In case anyone up there still reads this thread...here's how you save a bunch of money. I know, I have family that use to work in a Walmart store, the corporate office in Bentonville had control of ALL the HVAC systems at ALL the stores nation wide...do what they did, turn the a/c in your buildings to 80 degrees...the money you save in electricity alone will double what you are saving on cutting our idle time in half. Oh, but wait, the assistant to the assistant to the assistant might sweat and the secretary pool's make-up might run...TOUGH FREEKIN COOKIES!!!! The very people that earn this company their money, and that are suppose to be the best asset, are sweating while trying to get their MANDATORY rest, and trying to move these customers loads...A pencil pushing cubicle dweller is a whole lot easier to replace than someone who can safely navigate a 70' long, 80,000 lb truck in today's traffic and JIT world.

As for the whole system replacement, the Cascadias were having similar issues, it was such a big problem a while back that they redesigned the system to be modular...pull into a dealer, they pull the whole unit out, put a whole refurbished unit in and send you on your way...saved tons of labor costs and customer frustration...especially when it's a warranty job.

I'm headed to Tully, NY for a driver-unload Aldi delivery. Never been there before. Anything I should know before hand?

 

I have never been to that particular Aldi's, but I've been to other locations. They unloaded it(for a reasonable fee) and were fairly quick and friendly. I think the comment 'other customers should take receiving lessons from these people'. Although, I'm not sure how close Tully is to the city...the closer you get to NYC, the more attitude appears.
