I think the mentality of every man for himself probably got us to where we're at as a profession.
    But I could be mistaken

Knight does very very well by the drivers that have been with them for awhile.. most have dedicated runs for IKEA,SEARS,HOME DEPOT ET AL and have pretty good home time usually every weekend,,,they get the new rigs when they come in, they are allowed to stay hooked to their newer trailers when mt. its the newbies that get the shaft that the golden hen laid....but then, I guess thats why its called drivers with a company first attitude..get ur done, no matter what...where being labled a company man isnt a bad title. Knight takes good care of their own,,and if you dont know,, they have someone that monitors all these websites, just to keep track of the misfits they need to get rid of..HAPPY TRUCKING,,, BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU...MAKE YOUR WORDS SOFT AND SWEET,, FOR SOMEDAY THOSE WORDS YOU MAY HAVE TO EAT..

And nobody has responded to my question about how does a "real" trucking company earn a profit

How does a real company earn a profit? By stealing from their employees in the form of time and earned cash? Then suddenly opening a training school because no driver in their right mind would want to work for them?

So instead of illustrating how a driver can earn more and make a better living for himself by simply NOT working for Knight, tell us how a real trucking company earns a profit.

Ever wonder why your the ONLY defender of Knight here? So do we.

I have a very dear friend that works and has worked for swift for many years,,,he told me a long time ago, that swift had at that time over 10,000 trucks nationwide and if each truck made a $1 a day profit after paying all its bills they where sitting in high cotton,,,you do the math,,thats how a trucking company makes money...and since then swift has added driver training schools, and sells trucks to folks that dont have a clue ....jmo

That's what baffles me about working for a large company. First figure out how many miles you need to make the week worthwhile. Second understand that the company makes out just fine with you running HALF of those miles. The bigger the company the less they need. Why fight to make a living when you can put on a clean shirt, shave, and go sell your services to a REAL company?

Knight back when I was there was full of liers and cheats that figured you would be quitting as soon they found a load home for you. So why bother working for this driver. I can't tell you how many times I went to pick up loads that were already gone. How does this happen? How much fuel is wasted on double dispatching? Good grief, what a terrible company and a black eye to the whole industry they are.

Too many suits & tie with no real world experience much less trucking industry experience....just because someone graduates from college doesn't mean they know what to do...common sense goes a long way.
