Wow, I had actually forgotten about this thread. I'm glad to see that it is still drawing attention after all these years and hopefully helping others in their search for a good school.

Doctor, I replied to your question in a PM, but I will answer here as well for the benefit of others.

After completing the course at Napier, you have to take the roadtest/skills test/PMI test and a state testing facility. You will need an appointment for these tests. Napier will set everything up for you, including providing trucks at the testing facility. All you have to do is show up at your scheduled appointment time.

Hey newky! I just left Napier about a month ago. Probably saw you there. I decided to go with Crete and I'm almost done with training now. Good luck with Schneider. Definitely look into Crete before you make your final decision. May not be better for you but it was for me.

I live outside of cincy. I've heard great things about Napier. If you don't mind me asking, how'd you go about paying for it? all upfront? Any suggestions? feel free to pm me if that's better. Will the school help with loans?

    Thanks!

3 different options, all financing done thru the school, can put half up front, pay all cash and you get a hefty discount, or finance all of it thru them. payments start 30 days after you graduate, they are very reasonable and almost every recruiter that comes in offers tuition reimbursement. also if your on unemployment they will pay for it if you qualify

I see nobody has posted on this thread lately so rather than let it die again, I'm posting. I am attending Napier and in the almost end of my second week of 5 weeks. My instructor is named Bill and although most of this seems to me as boring, I can see Bill takes it VERY serious and for those who are unlike me and have never driven a T/T before, its a good plan of learning for them. I must admit, Bill has convinced me of a couple things here and there so I guess you CAN teach an old dog after all.

The school is nice, clean and in a safe area. There are older and young students in my class of about 15 plus a few who are making up their time missed from previous weeks. All the administration there are extremely helpful and friendly, they address you by your name (which surprised the absolute heck outa me!) I am unable to say how the track instructors are at the moment since I'm still in the class room. I'm sure their great though. I want to just say one more thing about Bill. Some people will come there and maybe take him wrong or dislike him but keep this in mind before your feelings take over. Bill is part of an institution that is being paid to teach you how to handle 80,000 pounds down a public roadway without wiping out a family coming home from dinner at grammas house.

Bill may seem like a control freak when he tells you to put your phone away. He might seem like a clock Nazi when he demands that you be on time every time but I honestly wouldnt be totally satisfied with the program if he wasnt like that. If he DIDNT take it so serious. I didnt pay for my tuition, WIA paid for it so I am not out of pocket. Heck, I even get paid back for my gas to drive there and back! But regardless of who pays for it, WIA or me, I wouldnt want to pay thousands of dollars and then just left carefree to do as I want rather than learn a SKILL.

I hope that all new students keep this in mind when they go through all the trouble to sign up. Be there every day, on time, stay awake, sit up straight, listen more than talk and take notes and ask questions. Also, even though they will test you over and over and over and over on the same material, I found that if you go to http://www.thetruckersreport.com/cdl-practice-tests/ and take THOSE tests, you WILL pass your CDL temp test. Bill is great but most of the stuff he tests you on isnt asked on the tests by the state. That website asks the same exact questions as Ohio does.

Okay so thats it, my two cents worth for now. I'll let anyone interested know how the next weeks are. Good luck to all.

The test I took was the same as what bill had been training us on in class.
