Hello ya'll. I am currently in the US Army as a truck driver. I have been doin some home homework about trucking schools. I was looking at Schneider trucking school, Swift trucking school, Roadmaster out of Jackson, TN and West Memphis, Ar(which is 3-4 weeks), Drive Train out of Dyersburg, TN and Jackson, TN(2 full weeks). Here is a few questions I have.

1.) Am I better off going to the Roadmaster since it is a 3-4 week long class and they teach more. Or should I go to a company sponsored school like Schneider or Swift?

2.) Do most trucking schools give you 3 strikes to pass the knowledge test?

3.) The only problem with the road test would be double clutching, since all the Army's fleet are automatics, will youtube videos actually help you?

4.) Lastly, So far I have 2 and a half years of safe driving in the Army no tickets or accidents of any kind. Also 4 years of safe driving in my own car no tickets or accidents. So will the trucking school and trucking companies take note of that?

Sorry if these questions seem dumb, but I wanna get started on the right foot and do homework before I get out of the Army.

    Thanks ya'll,
    Jeremiah

Hi don't worry about double clutching, don't worry about how long is the school as long as you get your cdl, companies do look into your records, most schools stick with you until you pass and check v.a might be able to pay for cdl

I've been on terminal leave for the past two months, driving for a LTL carrier. I am also a 88M. Your best bet is to go with a private school and use of your GI bill. That way you won't be stuck with a carrier for long periods of time. It is good that you are prepping ahead. Your driving with the service will not count on the civilian side. However, you did get a lot of experience which will come in handy to make the state exam easier. As for double clutching, you will learn it as you go along. It is not that hard. Let me know if you have anymore questions. I can try to help ya out.

That is only to get his cdl if he lives in florida. He would still have nothing on his DAC report. I got my cdl while in the army and had to go through FFE's academy because i had nothing on my DAC report.
