The van rates are probably similar everywhere else also.

I agree. We are paying down our debt as fast as possible but an unexpected funeral this summer put us back behind the eight ball. They are not cheap.
Aren't you supposed to be in orientation this week?

You guys have really low expectations. Don't understand why some need $3 a mile? It's called "making a profit with one truck" is there any other way to do it? I don't live the life of a Rockefeller but all my stuff is paid for and I couldn't make it on $1.29-$1.55 that is just crazy even if fuel was $3 a gallon. Low expectations are a big reason why most guys never do any better. You might as well have "I work for free" tatooed on your forehead.

i cant make it on that either, thats why i am leaving. we made the decision to let our house go back to the bank. we were behind when another co cheated me out of a few grand. they wouldnt work with us, wanted an unrealistic payback schedual, house is worth half what we paid now and they wont allow a short sale so i figure if they want it that bad they can have it. its not a decision that was made lightly. we have lived debt free for about 6yrs now other then my truck note and that mortgage. now that we arent paying that my wife makes enough to cover household expenses working part time for min wage. my trk note is barely more then what this trl from mercer will cost me.
sure i used to live a large lifestyle. big farm, new cars and trucks every year, harley, vacations etc all running west coast reefer but the money isnt there to support that so i adapted. just wish i would have saved more and spent less, there is a lesson for all the new guys. make you money and save it while its there because it doesnt last forever

i will be in.orientation next monday, the 8th. right now i am still stuck in georgia. load to cleavenland at 5pm. i only came here to pick up chains, binders, straps and tarps from a friend.

my goal is to stay over $2/mi all mi.we will se how it works out. i have trucked in tx long enough to know you need to either stay in tx or bite the bullet and get out then go make your money. you will rarely make money getting out of tx.
