It is good that you see that. We had a guy leave us because he couldn't make money not because it wasn't out there but he wouldn't go and take it. Actually had a couple brokers that we work a lot with tell me he negotiated down on loads. Good guy but just not cut out for negotiating his own loads.

i can do it, i did it for our five trucks. i just dont like it and i am sure others are much better at it. so why not let them negotiate it for me? i dont have to always be watching the mailbox waiting on checks to come, IF they come. worrying about having fuel money and bill money for myself because my guys have to get paid first. i used to deal with stress a lot better, now a days i need to cut out any extra stress i can before i blow an intake valve

What are you doing now wideload?
That's just it I'm looking at leasing on thinking I can find better paying freight and more of it I get I'm at home day 3 and still can't find anything all I see are 200 mile loads that pay $500 but I'm not driving 200 miles from home to spend time at the truck stop waiting on my next load I'm about to just give this dream up seems like everyone is making money but me and I don't understand why
I pay cost pluse $.06 for fuel so it's almost the same as Mercer I can see mercer being a good place to work for someone that don't know how to do plates ifta and know about finding freight but that's the problem I know how to do all this the only thing I can do now is change trailers but I just don't have the money to make that move ###### if you do and ###### if you dont -
i do the schneider choice, for another 5 days

Boyou, the challenge I think you are going to run into is that every major company is not looking to grow fleets. If you look financial reports for the last few quarters of the larger companies you will find that miles and revenue for company and leased drivers is down. But loads booked with outside partners and brokers is up. You are likely better off finding a TX based carrier that is smaller that is partnering with these bigger companies.
Or look to connect with some of the better independents and see what they are doing. You have the experience. Maybe it is just a matter of tweaking some of the things you are doing. But when you look at the market from the 50k foot level things are pretty positive. But it can be easy to get beaten down week to week and then let that effect you. Just think you owe it to yourself to figure that out before you go and settle. Or even move to what looks like a better ship to find out it is the Titanic.horsecrazychic22 Thanks this. -

A local customer we do alot fo called me today they have 10 loads this week going 200 miles I'm home so I figured why not $750 a load the guy said wow he had someone doing them for $425 a load but can't get them moved by the end of the week and they want two loads done a day so it's a turn and burn someone can't do math it's crazy I just can't keep up I'm having to stay out 3 weeks or more at a time to make money

I would have told him $900 a load and let him work me down to maybe $825. $425, no way! Thats $1.06 round trip, no wonder there is so much cheap freight out there with clowns handing out those kind of discounts.

Love how he will tell you he moves them for a cheap price then that he can't get them moved.
Ahh, no you are not moving them for that. Because then you would not be having an issue with not getting them all moved.horsecrazychic22, rollin coal, whoopNride and 1 other person Thank this. -
