I've never had a medical card list my employer. But the three companies I've worked for all made me get a new card through their designated physician regardless of how much time was left before the card expired.

Marten sent me a bill for the hotel 2 years after I left. I thought they took all that out of the last check. I don't know if it was taken out or if they are trying to double dip. You really have to be desperate to be sending out bills to people who left 2 years ago for 70 dollars.

I never had problems getting off time with Marten, and they do have nice equipment. But they make you wash it for free. Charge you for perdiem, and you don't make squat. The driver manager I had said that they just wanted me to get at least 6k miles a month. I was there almost a year, and only had 1 or 2 loads longer than 1000 miles (just barely)

They have such a huge turnover rate, that if you don't stay for 6 months, they will charge you for you orientation costs ( Hotel, Dot Physical), and will stamp your DOT Med Card andnlong form... "Good while employed at Marten" So even if you pay for it, it's no good unless you know how to use white out and copy..

Marten was the absolutely lowest paying driving gig I have ever had, and what amazes me is how they get experienced drivers. I don't think they hire trainees. They have very clever marketing, and I was fooled.

As far as asking any driver how much they make working there (or anywhere); keep in mind that some will lie to get a referral bonus, or out of embarrassment. Ask to see a stub. If they are trying to get you with the company, and have already told you how much they make... It's not really a secret.

I wish I had visited this forum before hiring on with them. Even so I did make the best of it, left on good terms with a job lined up to go to. The pay was so low with them that many times my child support would not get fully taken out of my paycheck because of a law that says they can't take more than half of your paycheck. In other words I had checks on many occasions that were less than $300 per week which is pathetic. I would have been better off going on unemployment if it weren't for my pride, and wanting to get ahead in life.

I also spent a lot of time sitting, and didn't detention pay half the time. I also noticed that they paid household mover miles, unless on the rare occasion that exact miles was less. Then they would pay you exact miles. So as you can see, there seems to be a pattern with Marten which is screw the driver any way you can...

Hey Mike just one thing took my attention....42 cents per mile is good...I goggled out there's some companies paying that per mile....
About this blogs....well is a learning experience for all those who pursue a career with all those hungry abusive companies...I think Marten is one of them...for the comments england is other and the list go on....I'm working for a mom and pops company a 1099 deal making from 30 to 35 c per mile running miles sometimes like crazy cheating on log books....that's the jungle too....Guess I already paid my initiation and have such good experience to become part of a really good company. The only one raises up all the companies I hear here is JCT ...I did all what you guys recommend I spoke with many drivers at the truck stops....and what they said is cool about JCT. Would you mind Mike to reveal the name of the company you work for? may be we can do some research on it.

Got to be careful talking to drivers at the truck stops. Many companies pay $1000 for recruiting new drivers. I saw a guy at a TA a while back with his lap top at the lunch counter trying to get drivers to apply with Roehl. Be suspicious if they give you a driver number and ask you to put it on your application.

Now I have to chime in on this comment. If you suspect anyone of being a company shill, please report the post. AND I don't mean company cheerleaders that are clearly drivers, I mean someone that has just joined the forum that hasn't built a reputation here. And is posting glowing reviews against the grain.

Its happened here, yes, but we don't allow the information to continue without letting the forum know about it.

Are you serious? How many times have you been approached by a company... "we'll give you $20 for each post you put on TTR"?

One thing I don't like beside spammers is snakes and weasels. They don't last long on the forums if they do show up.

Just a reminder these forums are commercial free if anyone sees something out of place report it.

It is so commercial free even we volunteer!
