Do Canadian provinces have minimum requirements for chains like we have in the states?
The northwestern states that I typically drive in all have a minimum amount of chains you are required to use when chains are mandatory on the various mountain passes, etc...
I've managed to find the requirements for all the lower 48 states but have not found anything for BC, Alberta or Saskatchewan.

BC are required from Oct. 1 to April 30th. No requirements as to how many you have to have on. Just common sense, put on what is required to get you over the top.
Common Sense, something that can't be educated, legislated or regulated. lol

Seem to find most info for BC.
Lots of must carry chain routes.

If you were smart, you'd forget about the minimum crap. You would have a set of triples for each axle so you don't screw the rest of us up on hills.
-
bc you need one of the drive axles done up, none of the silly american stuff of trl and steer axles
4 cables = legal. -
Pretty sure that BC has minimum rules,(I just can't find a link) 1 drive axle fully chained (triples) for tractor semi trailer, 2 axles fully chained for trains, but if you are going to put 1 set on you may as well do both. And as far as I know if you enter the province in bc from oct 30 to april 15 you have to carry chains.
-
I only ever do 1 never had to do too^
-
1 set works ok until some "new canadian" spins out in front of you and you have to restart. knowing the road makes a big difference too. I know BC loggers that have never chained on the pavement and never had problems.
