The reason I ask, is every 2 years or so my pipe that connects to my muffler gets a rust hole in it & it has to be changed, while the muffler is usually in good shape, I change it too, cause it rust together with the pipe & it is easier to just buy new pieces than to try to separate. one year I did not put muffler on. it was not loud at all.

Budget should not be destroyed by going with free flow mufflers. I got two Walker Megaflow mufflers from Summit Racing, delivered to the door for around $230 total cost.

I have a 2007 KW t800 and it was smoking quite bad so we took one muffler off. It was pluged with soot and very heavy. I had another muffler and I wanted to remove the baffle and still maintain a muffler so I cranked my welder to high and bent the welding rod straight so I could reach in and melted the baffal. Very little difference in noise. Next day I did the same with the othr one. Way less smoke and much better power. Must have been slowly plugging up. -
Just wanted to add I just cut out the round plug and left all the rest of the inside of the muffler.

I will post pics of mine. I moved the down pipe forward a few inches with an elbow at the bottom into a y and straight out the stacks. I also put a small resonator about a foot behind the turbo. In all maybe 4 feet of flex pipe in hole system.
