LOL, I love that! Recently I messaged my AM through the QCOM, "please I'm begging you to let me change to an experienced asset manager so my home doesn't go into foreclosure as you are bankrupting me with your incompetence!" But my terminal manager intervened and said very angrily: "we don't allow you to switch asset managers." This is just a pet peeve, but I absolutely hate how my AM begins every QCOM message with my first name. It's like when you go to some new grocery store, the checker looks at your card and starts saying your first name as though you are old chums. I find it extremely patronizing (like a school marm talking down to a child) as well as being a waste of QCOM characters (hello, I am the only person on this here truck).

Now that I have access to a PC, here's that Google Street View of the entrance to the Vonore ConAgra:

Or they do it like mine...'Sir........'. My dad was Sir. And now Flying Peelot is doing the 1st name game when you use your rewards card.Ralph4159 Thanks this.

I have an impromptu poll for Crete drivers, but not sure how to do it w/o taking multiple pages of this thread. But I'm just wondering , of the Crete and Shaffer drivers that both just browse and those that post, Are you happy with the Asset Manager you have and/or the Asset Manager system as a whole.
I have created a whole new thread in the 'discuss your favorite trucking company here' branch of the forum called 'Crete's asset manager program'. Rather than use dozens of pages here about one subject, if you have a like or dislike about this program, head on over and post it there...that way we can keep this thread usefull for others who want to get a look at the big picture of what is going on over here, not just one subject...grasiasLast edited: Nov 20, 2012

Does everyone know how popular this thread is? I just peeked at the 1st page of threads in this branch. This thread has had over 860,000 views. Of the 1st page, the next closest is a JCT thread w/320,000 views.

Wow, pretty amazing. And all-in-all Crete should be very appreciative because despite some of us like me who are having a bad experience, the majority of the thread is positive and a recruiter's dream for Crete.
I'm curious, but has Crete been continuing to downsize? In 2009 Transport Topics Top 100, Crete is ranked 24th with 1.1 B annual revenue and 4984 company trucks. In 2012 they are ranked 28th with 9.4 M annual revenue and 5014 company trucks (or is that change insignificant?).Last edited: Nov 20, 2012

Actually, this thread made me decide not to go to Crete. My application had been submitted and approved and I was ready to go when I started doing more research. Although I would make more money per mile at Crete, I decided I couldn't handle the micromanaging and dealing with idiots. And I mean that in a nice way of course, lol. The comments about them not reading q/c messages and taking forever to answer questions, been there, done that, have no desire to do it again. The company I'm working for has its problems, but I can pick up the phone to ask a question and get an answer promptly. They do like us to use the q/c and when I do I usually get an answer fairly quickly, even on a weekend. I even met a driver the other day that had been at Crete for 14 years before he left, took a huge pay cut but said he couldn't handle the way things were at Crete anymore.
If the powers that be at Crete read this stuff, why don't they do something about it? Could it be that they just don't care?supersnackbar and Dna Mach Thank this. -
I read alot of the stuff on here and, although being with Shaffer for over 10 years, I wonder where it's coming from. I can remember only 1 time where I was treated badly...and that night dispatcher is no longer around. I am not micro-managed, I am left to myself and usually use the q/c when I want an answer, I do call. (Face it, it is easier and faster to get a resolution when you can have a verbal exchange instead of writing back and forth every 20 minutes.) I have learned (years ago) not to include more than 1 thought in a q/c message. The thing I try to remember is that I only have to deal with what happens for me...they are dealing with 70 or more trucks. In short, I don't bother them and they don't bother me, which I like.Kimmi Thanks this.

Ok, it's time for a little sidetrack. I know this isn't a Crete related topic but....I was just sitting in the Men's library in the Lamar, PA Peelot when I heard the hip-hop remix of Bing Crosby's Rodolf the red nosed reindeer. Roo-roo-rodolf set to a dance beat. 1st of all, Christmas music before Thanksgiving should be outlawed!! 2nd WTF! If hip-hop is your thing, I'm cool with that, but come up with something original. What's next, Porky Pig w/o a speech impediment? Or are the liberals going to urge lawmakers to outlaw Porky because he insults Muslims, the obese and those with speech problems...the world may as well end on 12-21-12 and get it overwith.

I just took a peek at the article you posted. Our 2011 gross revenue is in black at $994m up from 2010's in blue at $850m. Still a drop from the 1st article where we were over $1b gross revenue. And it also shows we made more money with slightly less equipment last year compared to 2010.
I guess it shows that even Crete isn't immune to the stagnant economy, or at least as immune as High Command thinks.Last edited: Nov 21, 2012
