Must be nice! If my next load is another shorty, I'll be raising some roof. 575 miles when I deliver in the morning. I left the house Sunday morning.

This is one of the best I have had in a long time. But it delivers Saturday, meaning I have a short week this week. But next weeks pay should be a winner. Of course, I am gonna be back in PA...so maybe not.

    48Packard Thanks this.

Good luck. I have been happy with them (Shaffer actually) more often than not. Enough to keep me here for 10 years....

That is an amazing string of loads! I can't remember the last time they gave me something over 800. I'm on a 700 mile run to upper Wisconsin now, but will arrive tomorrow, 24 hrs before delivery, and my AM said the appt can't be moved up.

I'm back on a two-a-day cycle. I delivered in Springfield, OH. Then they sent me to pick up out of W. Jefferson, OH going to Olney, IL for a same day delivery. Once I got to Olney I had less than 3 hours on my 14, they post-plan me on a load out of Olney going to Douglas, GA(685 mi) that had to be there Tuedsay, but didn't pick up until 2 hours after my 14 was up. Since I can't run that many miles in 1 11 hour shift and didn't have time to run 11, break, then deliver by midnight, they put me on a Mattoon, IL dog food load to Tomah, WI for Tuesday. That'll put me over 1900 by Tuesday noon, and around 1000 miles from home, if they can get me home from there by Friday.

I have been seeing a comment on many of my loads the last few months about the load requiring us to give up more time before getting detention time(I can't remember exactly how it is worded, and the q/comm is off). But it usually 2 or 3 hours. Kinda weird how we're going that direction on detention, and companies like Marten and others are headed to a more driver friendly detention policy. Make one wonder what's going on in High Command.

I've seen that with certain customers. They have been trying to bill detention to some customers and they balk at paying. Then they negotiate a longer "free" period with them. I still turn in detention forms EVERY time I am held more than 2 hours. I end up getting on average $28 per paycheck.
As for "high command" I have heard that many of the positions are filled with former Swift and J B Hunt people....no wonder we are headed the way we are...
