I wanted to drive for Knight, but I am concerned about there home time. They seem to present you with many options, but sounds too good to be sure. I live in Hattiesburg, Ms and they have a yard in Gulf Port, Ms. I was wondering would that help my home time by them being so close. I only want the real truth about what they are saying rather it's is good or bad...

i just started with knight two weeks ago, and sure enough i was skeptical about the home time but they really are flexible about that... they ask you how you want to run, where you want to run, and how often you want to be home... i am regional and have taken 4 days for thanksgiving and they didnt say anything about that... came back out on monday and now i am back home this weekend like i asked to be... i got here last night but i am here fri-tues. just speak with your DM ...policy says that you must be out 7-10 days and 2 days off but they dont really go by that from my experience so far.

Be for warned, if you stay out longer they will still expect you to still only take 2 days off before sending you back out. If you choose any of the express options you'll be slipseating.

HI GUYS
Just wanted to say Get2it is right about his info on Knight i ran for them back 2 yrs ago iam in central florida so i ran out of the lakeland terminal
and was very happy with them.their hometime is very flexible i never had a problem with getting home they always worked with me.
The reason i left they moved my DM over too CSR tried to train a newbie into the buisness and i sat more waiting on mty trlers than i ever had.
Then home office from Az. called me about a load i was suppose to be on and told him i had no trlr and he took it from there and after i had turned in truck i found out they fired the newbie
and asked me too come back i turned down their offer, thats because iam retired and have been for 10yrs nowso what i make good or bad is a plus for me either way.
I will say this iam considering going back.
Guys theres no good or bad company out there its what fits you and you have too try diff. ones to see where you fit in. -
Waco you are correct.. i dont see how so many people just complain complain complain but when you look around they are still with the same people that they are complaining about...(maybe because something has to be working for them). i am home yet again for the night...had a weak 300mile load from dallas to san antonio that doesnt deliver until tomorrow at 1300 and i refused to spend the night in san antonio when i am only 2 hrs from home... so i told them i was going to drop that load in the yard here in houston and they can find a local driver to deliver it tomorrow and find me something good in the a.m. they didnt argue or anything, they just told me that was fine. i know that i am still new and i do take heed to the seasoned drivers with the company but i still think it's all about YOU ultimately.

I can't speak for everyone else but I can speak for myself. I returned to Knight to get my wife trained. Now do to having to have Surgery she may or may not be able to return to the truck. I made it very clear that this training period for her was also an 'Audition' for them to prove that we should stay with them once she had some time under her belt.
They have failed that Audition miserably and as soon as my wife's situation is resolved I'll be moving on. -
I am starting a seasonal dedicated deal on Sunday. I was told I would be home very weekend. Feeling a bit skeptical, but guess only time will tell.

So you refuse to spend the night in San Antonio? Now some other driver gets a 150 mile load? Your saying Knight was okay with 150 OOR miles on this load? I figured Knight would eventually get that desperate for drivers. It's also interesting how you find a 300 mile load with 24 hours on it "weak" man that's Knights bread and butter right there. There will be many more in the future. Someone's got to take the dumpy leftover loads that other drivers ditch.OverDrive Thanks this.

Those dedicated-home-weekends are out there; but, dont expect many miles....
As for me, I was an Express driver (5-10 days out), and driving for Knight for me was more of a 'hobby'...Last edited: Dec 6, 2012

Audition?? What, you didnt like Knight's song & dance?! They have shiny red trucks!!
Well. 'shiny' when I started with them, authorizing weekly paid truck washes (not just the free 'trailer wash' as in Phx!, which is what it is designed for, & does a crappy job on tractors), but now are lucky to get a paid 6 week wash out of them, last I experienced...
