The worst thing is that it could have been avoided.....
You know that the driver has just made life a whole lot harder for you other drivers now. There will be a whole new set of hoops for drivers to jump through after this bombshell.

the smart thing would be for troopers to avoid pulling people over on the shoulder on an interstate
but i doubt that will happen
too much like right -
Or do like California does and conduct business on the passenger side. Seems like they could keep a better eye on the drivers hands from that angle also.

There have been many posts on this forum concerning the medical form. There are posters that state do not tell them the conditions and it is not on the form.
There are others that develop the condition on a valid medical form term and do not get an updated form or adhere to it. -
Wow... That's a shame. This guy is in serious trouble. It's scary to know that he was driving around in this condition. At least we now know what happened.

I'd like to hear some more of the back story behind this particular sentence. I mean how do you drive any measurable distance in a state of unconsciousness? Or, what are the odds of falling unconscious at the very moment your passing a LEO on the side of the road? Or did he lose consciousness earlier, then recovered and went on his way? Strange but I half way expect the DOT health certificate process to become more involved, more costly, and perhaps to be required every 12 months for every driver, in addition to every new hire.

There are several conditions that can lead to this. None of which I have found in their reports.
Diabetic, can be where it gets low, it usually leads to passing out and not being in control. Most of the calls with them are out or slipping in and out.
Seizures is another one that can come and go.
Just amazes me that he did not go off the road earlier or say in Chicago or St. Louis traffic.
As far as more costly, are prescriptions now going to be tracked direct to the Drivers license? -
Thanks to another idiot for making it harder for the real drivers out here trying to do it right.

The last place that I worked tested for everything on the face of the earth. One guy got fired for not reporting medication he was taking after undergoing cancer treatment. Wtf?

I know.
But, I have seen guys I knew were on meds not allowed get 2 year certificates. They just tell them they are on no meds.
