And I totally understand most companies reaction to those things, how do I work thru that, explain it or in some way shape or form prove I want to do this? That I'm worth investing time and money in?

If you're truly serious, bite the bullet and drive for a carrier that has a really high turnovers (a mega perhaps.) The point is that you *NEED REAL EXPERIENCE* driving.
Or try to find some local outfit that's willing to overlook your lack of qualifications.
You might even consider not limiting yourself to just driving flats.

Try to get on as a yarder at Kraft or AWG to get some more driving experience then start working toward the switch to platform. Union, good wages. Other than that, TCSI would be where I'd say go. O&S is now Prime's love child because of the bailout.

In this area even Yarders have to have experience it seems, I tried to find local companies to hire me, trash, dump trucks anything really everyone either says I dont have the right kind of experience, enough experience or they arent hiring right now.... frustrating. I'm looking at Prime's flatbed/tanker divisions, does anyone have any insight, words of wisdom or thoughts on either of those? I know several friends who have driven with prime in various divisions and at various times and had nothing bad to say really I've just heard so much mega bashing and horror stories i'm skeptical.... tho I know with a years experience under my belt I'm much more employable locally and deffinatly more so with the flat bed companies i've been looking at....Anyone know anything about E.W wylie or lone star?

There's a company there in Branson run by a friend of my dad's that's OTR. Let me check with him and see if he's looking for drivers.

I am having a bit of an issue getting back into the industry... I went to a cdl school, finished at the top of my class, passed my cdl test with flying colors and signed on with a local Reefer company in Springfeild mo...not prime.... I started training with them, made it roughly 3 months and my home life exploded, medical emergencies, relationship issues, lots of complications so I parted ways with that company and got off the road to try to fix things here so I could go back out without being distracted. Now in that span I was very honest with the company about what was going on, tried to keep them updated on any and all things pertaining to my employment with them. I am a natural driver, I've wanted to drive flatbed for many years...pretty much since childhood, I'm currently trying to get back out on the road and having some rather negative reactions, alot of companies dont want to deal with me at all, they look at my application and turn it down without much hesitation, Tmc flat out told me that they were gonna have to pass due to the abundance of better qualified drivers available, I realize that with only 3 to 4 months of experience on my mvr I probably look pretty bad on paper. My main company of interest at this point is KeimTs I like everything i've read about them, talked to Daniel a few times, passed over an application and he seemed positive however I spoke with Peggy and she seemed less than thrilled about my application basically saying that they arent hiring any kind of student thru the winter months, is this also a more standard practice in the industry?
My main questions to those of you familiar with the industry are 1. what can I do to try to get past my lack of experience with these companies? 2. does anyone know of a smaller company that pulls flat bed that I might have some better luck with?

I think getting a copy of your DAC is really important. There is no telling what trailliner may have put on it , mistakes can happen. Most places you apply to will not tell you that DAC is the reason you are not hired because that opens a can of worms with some of the legalities. There is something to be said about having a copy of it and knowing exactly what they see. Besides there is a time limit to fight false entries on it , you should get a copy every year at the least.
