Anyone have opinion on stainless sides for reefer trailer. I'm looking at one and its obviously better looking, but weighs 500lbs more. Are there any benefits to stainless besides appearence and resale? also does the resale make up for the upfront cost increase? thanks.

Kinda like anything it will make a difference how well you take care of it. In my opinion the stainless reefers only go well if they are 48' with a 10'1" spread. Also they have to have lots of lights, so does the truck pulling it, must be a 379 or w900L, decked out and 280"+ wb. The price of a stainless screams that someone has money to spend on extra stuff like that and I'd only run one as I said above. Where I live they can run around $110,000 new compared to a 53' utility or GD reefer around 65-70.

Main difference is that you do not get pulled over for inspections - if your truck is matching that sharp appearance. There is no way a rookie could afford such a equipment or get hired to drive it. Most of the times they check on Volvos and crappy Freightliners with missing body parts

They reflect the sunlight so well, you never actually need to run the reefer unit!

Shippers & brokers pay a higher rate just because you bought the expensive trailer, just like peterbilts make more with more chrome & lights.........

You couldnt be more wrong, lazy inspectors target a good looking rig,,, faster cleaner, easier inspection less paper work for them .
