So, your input is based on personal CYA based on experience, along with company policy. Makes sense.

For the most part, yes it is. Like I said, I never stated flagging a VI/PTI was required, I said having the line 4 time logged was. I personally flag the line 4 line with a VI/PTI to avoid confusion, as there are many other things one can do on line 4 that takes 15 or so minutes. I also flag fuel, and departure/arrivals from a customer.

File a complaint with the State Labor authority in the state this happened in on the no pay .. this is the professional thing to do. Then send a copy of that report to DAC and file a rebuttal with them. That is the heads up move and the move of a professional. After doing that.. make a little note to yourself, never work for an electronic logs company again if you want to save yourself from dealing with that type of chicken shiznet.

My brother worked for the Texas Workforce commision and was an investigator there ..handled these type of complaints all the time. You will go into this
dispute 50/50 against the company.. with a state labor board and should get a fair shake. It will also make this company think twice about pulling this type of stunt again.... my brother had the authority to levy up to a $10000 fine ... that will get the company's attention.

    .

Like another driver said, request your dac report from www.hireright.com and dispute it and explain to them what you explained to all of us. Don't be afraid to apply for another job, be upfront with them, and go from there.

I would say you're far from blackballed. Any company that uses hire right will also be getting a copy of your PSP. So what they'll see is your MVR, inspection results and crash data. You're putting too much stock in Unsatisfactory Safety Performance. Much like any other selection you can choose on DAC it's a general description. While one company may be very strict on what they consider satisfactory another may be more lax.

One speeding ticket, that isn't considered reckless, and one minor infraction on an e-log should not get you fired from any job. Something is missing from this story by the OP. How did you handle yourself with the safety dept. and others when told of the shortcomings on your logs and was this your first time violating company policy? If you copped an attitude with management or safety, you'll get fired faster than making a few mistakes, no doubt about it.

..........My DM says that pretrips being logged is a DOT rule and reg.

Of course the DM also says DOT requires us to carry chains in the wintertime.
