    I call that extortion, quite honestly. Of course we only heard one side of the story. How did it turn out? Pretty crappy that the company owner couldn't and didn't just pony up the $6k.

    Yup, same story. Got a lot of airplay when it first happened. I too wonder how it turned out....I hope well for the driver....

    Well he was on posted roads. He was clearly at fault.Yes I have done the same ting by mistake. Got lucky and not caught.
    Got nailed one time for being on a road a mile to soon. Cost me 1500.00.

    does'nt anyone teach map reading anymore???? how about calling ahead and getting directions??? i know this is an old story but i have no pity for drivers in this situation... should be part of the cdl test nowadays... make map reading an endorsement....

    Many of those roads have been recently posted by local ordinance. They don't show up as weight limited anywhere. Your only warning is the newly planted sign that's not visible until you've turned onto the road and have no option to turn around.

    Calling ahead to get directions will get you the route that the receptionist takes to get to work in her car.

    I came across a road posted for a 4 ton limit while delivering in NJ. The receiver was on the road I had to deliver on. Both ends of the road had the 4 ton sign. I called the local PD and asked about it. The response? "Oh, don't worry about the signs, trucks go down there all the time to deliver."

    i guess i'm just too old school anymore... i will not hesitate to call around for directions, use my radio or anything else before i use a gps to get me where i need to go but thats just me... old school.....
