Look you gotta understand, most of the stuff you read on these sites is gonna be from disgruntled ex-drivers.....drivers who LIKE where they are really don't take the time to post. Pissed off drivers need to vent. So take all this stuff with a VERY large grain of salt. I've thought about jumping ship a few times since I've been w/Marten & while I've read some of these post, I would never base a decision on what I read on these boards. Do your homework, talk to current drivers, yes read post on here too. On balance Marten is better than most...& I've driven for a few. Good luck in your search. As far
as Swift??? RUN!!!!!!!! j/k lmao -
Bob smith, is he any good? I came here in '08 so i never heard about the guy.

Well The Current Drivers Will Just Tell You Anything.. This Is Like Trucker Twitter & It's All About Seeing For Yourself... That Has Always Been My Belief.. Hell I First Started At Werner.. Got The Miles & Everybody Says Werner Is Bad.. It Really Wasn't.. Just The Pay Sucked, I Went To Western Express Also.. They Took Great Care Of Me.. But I Got Greedy.. But Dry Van Sucks Overall.. That's Why I Love Refrigerated Work..

I have been with Marten for over 3 yrs run Se reg. I average 2400 to 2800 miles per week. It has its up and downs like any other company, over all I am very satisfied here. If u have any questions please ask.

From what i read on smaggs thread is that he was happy with his paychecks at marten and he told how he was paid $100.00 layover per day while he had issues with his truck. His negative mention was about how he thought a mechanic set on his bed and he wasn't happy about it. Overall he seemed happy with marten. He just wasn't in it for trucking in general and mentioned that he wanted to be home sleeping beside his girlfriend. Nothing wrong with that but that ain't martens fault. Marten is far from a bottom feeder, and in fact for a big carrier they are one of the better. I have been here almost 5 years and it works for me.JohnBoy Thanks this.

There's good and bad in every company, even the one I work for. I happen to follow smaggs exploits from the day he got his CDL. With Marten it seemed he used the mechanic on his bed as the final straw. The last part of what I highlighted in your post is something that I hold dear and near to me, if you are happy where you are and what you do, then it really doesn't matter what anyone says. Like at my company, I'm very happy and content here, are they perfect? Nope. Room for improvement? Absolutely. Works for me? Definitely. And I'm quite sure if a mechanic was lounging on my bed with his greasy overalls there would be hell to pay also. Oh, and the idea of sleeping next to my wife every night? I can relate.rachi Thanks this.

All the Marten drivers Ive talked to say they love it there and they get paid well. But some driver I briefly spoke with drove for them back a number of years ago and said he would never go back to that outfit. But i can see why a lot of drivers go there... They get a start with some sweatshop training co., get tired of 26-29 cpm and having to beg beg beg for breakdown and detention pay and going through a heap of bs just to get home... Then they see marten and their 38 cpm and regional routes and better hometime etc and jump ship... Cant blame them.

Here is where a HUGE choice comes in. Do you stay away because of all of the horror stories, or do you take a chance and hope to be one of the "lucky" ones who get treated fairly. Based on averages, you are screwed in this industry before you ever get started. Even if there were hundrerds of happy sucessful drivers at one company, based on there size, it may not mean anything.
