The driver gets in a pissing match with the company because they won't expedite his behind home and driver decides to use their equipment to get himself home until the good state of KY foils his dastardly scheme and puts him in the poky for the weekend. And now he wants to sue them? Have fun with that.
my penniless quote,
That's what i thought. why didn't the driver plan ahead. and think of a better way to help marten help him. If I was told to pull the truck over and hit the road. I would have parked it on the side of the interstate. grabbed my crap and went. and when the cops beg me to take the truck with me. I would have to tell them that it's no longer my problem. marten fired me. so you'll have to have it towed and send the fines to marten. as i am no longer employed as a driver with them. what's marten going to say. they posted a message on the qualcom telling me to stop the truck and get out of it. they didn' tsay where to park it. the cop has more of a civic duty to ensure human safety then corporate assets.

Actually the guy from Knight... (Tiny) Tim, hasn't been running anything here in almost a year. From what I heard Randy himself gave him his "see ya".

Guys there is another side too this story, I work at marten out of Atlanta, Ga. The news story is not what really happened, I know the driver and his dispatcher.

i imagine it was a computer blimp. or a human error. either way it is in the feds hands now. so we will have to wait and see what the verdict is. I just remember what happened with me when i worked for marten. it wasn't funny! and that is the reason I will never work for them again. and believe it or not I really liked connie in mondovi. she really is a sweet heart.

Always a guy with the inside scoop...

I'm sure they told him to take it to the nearest terminal in route and they would arrange transportation to get home. They must have watched the truck monitor and saw it do an about face. They probably tried to call and he ignored them, so the manager said report it stolen because they didn't want to spend $4+ per gallon to go back to the big A. That's rodknockers take on this story. It's my 1st thought when I heard it last Sunday. Don't get me wrong, I'm not taking sides and I don't give a hoot about Marten and companies alike. I definitely don't like the way they treat the drivers but these kind of companies always deal with these situations because " THEY GET WHAT THEY PAY FOR"

If you give the keys to your car to your friend, then he doesnt return it, try to report it stolen. Police will say its a civil matter. If you try to report it stolen and your friend can prove you gave him the keys, YOU go to jail for false reporting. How is this any different?
rodknocker Thanks this. -
I agree. Marten shouldn't have reported it stolen. I think it was a hot headed decision the manager made showing off in front of the sexy secretary. I think Marten owes the man something for it. At least something for public embarrassment and maybe something for his credibility because it will be hard for this guy to find work now that every higher up at every big trucking company knows his name.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
