All the guys saying e-logs are here to stay are listening to the big company recruiters/safety directors. Why? Because they're working at big companies.
Here's what the recruiter says........"Well friend, yes we do have e-logs and eventually EVERY trucking company will have them. It's a part of the future that is inevitable. We are on the cutting edge of employing this technology drivers will NEVER have to cheat on a log book again".
BUT in reality he is saying: "Our safety record sucks and were forced to monitor drivers to limit our liability in the event of an accident. Most new drivers couldn't fill out a log book so we figured if they're that dumb they are most likely not smart enough to figue out how much time they will spend sitting once the new "reset HOS" come into effect this june. Besides we sure don't want you working for someone else that would pay you more. We will scare you into working here. How's the cool aid taste?"

I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this but USA is going to elogs. A small part of the fleet (all the new trucks coming out I imagine) are having elogs on em. Im sitting next to a truck right now with an elog.

Well I hate conspiracy theories but.......did anybody else get the QC message this evening about having to enter fuel levels when replying to the "Begin Trip" macros? I have a funny feeling that planned fuel stops are on the way. I hope not.

Besides, this is the third truck I've had with an inaccurate fuel gage. I wonder what they expect to learn? -
I can't get over the big deal about elogs and USA. Either way, with or without them you are going to run legal. You are going to make decent money and have lots of miles. My truck does not have them. I don't know of anyone that does. If you see something different in a new truck, then that's news to me because I haven't. If you can't handle paper logs then by no means come here, go to one of the many other companies that plan your route, fuel stops, and do your logs for you with elogs. Those of us that have been here have been doing just fine without them. I don't need to have my hand held, I'm a big boy now.

As far as the "routed fuel solutions" thing goes.....do you know how many newbies you guys REALLY HAVE? I know! I was one there a year ago. Now, that I know ALOT more, than I did, back then about trucking...it's ALOT cheaper on the company with the "routed solutions" than the "fuel where you want to" deal. I'm on the "routed solutions deal" and can see a BIG difference in fuel/tax price that we have compaired to some of the stops I made at USA...BIG DIFFERENCE! NOT slammin' ya J_Frog! Just saying FROM MY OWN EXPERIENCE! That is all! Gimme some of that blog money -
Ok first off the new trucks do not have e logs in them. I am in a 2013 Freightliner with 2100 miles on it. The little thing mounted that looks like a tv is the new qualcomm. They have the ability to go to e logs in the future with the new qualcomm. The new trucks have inverters and do idle when the temp is above 70 and below 50. Bunk heater works great does not drain batteries as stated in a previous post somewhere in this forum. Also just like the other guy said we had to enter our fuel levels on the old system we had prior to this one its no biggies just like e logs are no biggie if and when we go to them.
dinkytruckerdoo Thanks this. -
elogs aren't that bad! But I've heard some pretty BAD stories about guys with DriverTech and PeopleNet.....you guys should be on Qualcomm elogs, if/when you go to them...they are REALLY EASY and are not stupid, like DriverTech/PeopleNet!
