Until we have good roads to travel on, our trucks will be beat like junk. No truck can stand it without problems.

I almost went bankrupt with my Volvo/D16. My peers with the same engine all have had brutal repair bills. One guy is trading his in at barely 20 months old.

I now own a Freightliner Coronado. Best truck I have ever had the pleasure to drive. I love you, my truck.

Read the OP's question, you're all missing something. He's heard the horror stories about Volvo and/or Freightliner, but he hasn't heard about leasing with Schneider ? Gheez man, Freightliner, Volvo, Peterbilt, KW, Mack, Intl, doesn't matter for you.........

I would go with the Volvo I don't like the Freightliner because of the crap in the middle of the windshield :biggrin_2559:

I own a 2007 Volvo 780 and love it. Having driven Freightliner Columbias before, this is a God send. I love having a table to work on, plus I have room for a 3.2 cu ft refrigerator, microwave, printer, pantry, closet, and so much storage space for tools and cleaning equipment. I have a D12 engine which runs very well. I have had three EGR's replaced, but the rest of the motor runs great.

I have never been stranded on a highway or been left waiting on parts for repair. Every Volvo dealer I have visited have had any and every part I have needed. I can't say that about Freightliner which stranded me in central Oregon for a week waiting on a turbo. I have seen other drivers with Freightliners, KW and Pete waiting a week on parts, and basic ones at that.

We are considering buying a new Volvo 780 in the next year or so. We love the room, the comfort and the service that Volvo delivers.

I personally am Volvo all the way, but when it comes down to a Volvo motor or cummins I would always go with the cummins. The Volvo's often have a lot of little problems and computer problems they also struggle more in the big hills. Having said that the Volvo truck is better than the freightliner, they have a smoother ride and the frames are a little heavier, more interior comforts also. I would also look at the mileage on the trucks, fuel economy, how they have been treated (beat up, loose transmission, grinding from the clutch, anything that would suggest that it has been abused), and what has been replaced, what is in the maintenance records, etc.
