Yesterday, I had to head out to Baie-Du-Vin, New Brunswick to grab a load of peat moss headed for Avon, OH. Made it out there on time, got loaded, sent my customs papers back to the office so my dispatcher could do my ACE. He calls me a little while later saying he was having trouble with the computer, and was giving up for the night, so I may as well head back to the barn instead of heading straight out. I would still have plenty of time to make a Monday delivery if I headed out this afternoon.

Okey dokey, the wife will be happy to hear this... back to the yard I go. 150 yards away from the yard, I hear a loud POP from under the hood, the steering wheel tries to rip out of my hands.. power steering's gone. Well, no way am I stopping here, the yard's right in front of me.

I managed to make the turn into the yard and was just pulling to a stop when the air and oil pressure dropped suddenly. The motor sounded like 5 rocks in a coffee can, so I blew the brakes and shut 'er down. I called my boss, who said, "Well, we'll have to get a look at 'er in the mornin'. I'll give you a call."

I just got off the phone with him, and our resident "light maintenance" guy says it won't build any air, has no power steering, has less than 20 pounds oil pressure, and sounds like it's ready to fall apart. The Power steering belt, lines, and reservoir are ok. The compressor was just replaced a month ago. Here's the bad part: since I didn't want to do any more damage, I didn't have the chance to drop the trailer. Now, they have to figure out how to drop the trailer and move the truck out so they can tow it. I've been telling them for weeks that I thought that rig was getting ready to let go.

Oh, right, the lucky part... if my boss hadn't gotten mad at his computer, I would have headed out and wound up broke down about 4 hours from home, up in Quebec. Instead, I'm safe and sound at the house, with my cold beer and hot wife. :yes2557:

So you are saying you don't fish then? lol:biggrin_25523:

Well I love her but I love to fish
I spend all day out on this lake and hell is all I catch
Today she met me at the door said I would have to choose
If I hit that fishin' hole today she'd be packin' all her things
And she'd be gone by noon
