I'm a new swift driver(kinda). I have gone through Orientation (thats a story in of its self), Mentor BS(I had two and both were jerks but I dealed with the second one), passing the road and backing test. Now just waiting on my truck. I passed the road test on the 18th of March. I sat there waiting for someone to assign me a DM in fontana for 4 hours. (from 12 till 4) I was trying to keep the other guy calm he was complaining that all she was doing was talking to people and I was telling him she is a busy lady. I was getting sick of waiting though as well. so I popped my head out of the room I was in and the person that was suppose to be working on that acts like she didn't even know we were in there. There were two of us in the room waiting. I could have been on my way home. She tells us that its normally a 4 day wait for a truck and that when our DM gets assigned he will call you. HAHAHAHA!!!!l Thursday went by Friday went by. I didn't much mind that because I had a to get to the doctors anyway. By the time I got out on Friday it was 1pm and no one had called me I didn't know if I really wanted someone to call me anyway I am about 200 miles away from Fontana and by the time I got there it would have been traffic time in LA. so I had the weekend cause I know the people that do the assigning stuff aren't going to be there during the weekend so I didn't even try to call.

maybe I should have called on Friday to remind them I was still alive or something but why should I they got my information they know that I passed the tests and I did my mentor 240 why would I just bail after that? makes no sense to me for me to have to let them know I am still here. (Swift is under staffed is what I am getting at) well I call on Monday and shes not there and I try and talk to someone else and they tell me they can't do nothing and to leave a message with the person that was out. so I call back three times that day just to make sure she was gone for the day each time getting a voice mail so I know she was gone the entire day. This is just a side note I know she is a busy person and she has 15 people coming at her probable all the time and thats why I waited 4 hours only to be told to go home and wait. if you can't handle it then you need to get some help to make swift more organized its not hard and even someone like me can see thats she is over worked. Swift is to cheap for that I am pretty sure that's the reason. so I can't really blame her but I am not liking how this is starting out.

I am not done though. so I call Tuesday I finally am able to talk to the person I need to. She goes AAHHHH AHHHA AHHA just a second AHAHHAHHHA lol I was thinking did they really forget about me. That must have been what happen cause she then tells me that I am assigned to this driver manger (I am not going to give names though just because that's rude. I am not really bad mouthing them I know their job is tough) She tells me that she is going to give him my information and he will call me that was at 10 I waited till 3:30pm I call them up and ask for that DM. He was answers and was like welcome aboard. It was really weird. THEN he tells me that he is my Temp DM and that he is going to go back to driving and that he won't be in the rest of the week or even after that. he will let the people that need to know know that I need a truck and they should call me Wednesday *Today* or Thursday but there are 4 people ahead of you.

all the while I am not going to have a check for last week and it looks like this week too. I am going to be in deep #### when I am out on the road. Maybe I should have made a little more noise then before or that I am not to get things done. I mean I thought I was doing them a favor by not calling and bugging them but this is getting serious now. I may move on to a different company but I don't want to because of all the work I have all ready done. Maybe its just the Term I am out of. oh and my temp DM said he would send me a packet by e mail and I still haven't got a e mail from him. I am starting to get frustrated. I don't know if this is normal or not lol. I hope not cause it seems really disorganized to me and for a company this big that's not a good thing

I just wanted to know if this is normal? did I not do something right, and am I going about this the wrong way? should I bug the hell out of them? I just don't understand why would they give drivers to a guy on his way out. LOL makes no sense.

Seems to be a pretty common theme. I've read from a couple other new drivers going through multiple mentors then having to wait extended periods of time for available trucks.

I have a load going to southern California tonight, if I didn't have my dog on board I'd hire you and put you to work tomorrow.

I don't know if any of you know about my orientation experience. Like I said it was a story in of its self and I still can't believe it happen. They put me in the hotel with this big black guy. I have nothing wrong with that. What I do have a problem with is him being drunk and keeping me up till 3:30am. he asks me if he could drink. I told him I am not his mama but we do have a drive test in the morning. He then goes to the store buys food and beer downs that thats when the drunk talk starts its like he was having a convo with himself. then goes out again comes back has beer and food and again. he leaves and each time more beer more food and he is more and more drunk then before. I couldn't believe this he kept me up till 3:30am He was talking to himself and then he drunk called his mom and wanted me to talk to her that part was kinda funny but I needed to go to sleep. I don't care if you drink just leave me the hell alone and be quiet so I can sleep. I told the people in charge at orientation that he had been drinking and I doubt that it was out of his system, but they let him take the road test anyway. I was moved to a different room which was good BUT I had to ASK to be moved. I got to the hotel room thinking ok hes not coming back and if he does come back then I will move. I thought they might send him home with me reporting him like I did but nope he came in I told him I needed some air. I called and my recruiter and had her move me. He stayed for the whole orientation I think he even got a mentor I couldn't believe it myself. like I said I don't have a problem with him drinking its the amount he drank and he kept me up.

I just don't know man I have had a rough go at even getting started I am just so tired of stuff not working the way it should.

Yea, it's been tough getting trucks. My last student got shipped home, had to wait 2 weeks. Student before that, 1 week. It's like this everywhere at swift right now.

oh you don't even know the half of it, I went to US Xpress before Swift. I'm in California and they bussed me all the way to Dallas (20 hour bus ride). I was there not even there two hours when they told me that I could go home and they weren't going to hire me. First let tell you the night before I got in at midnight and had to be up by 5am to get a ride to US Xpress. They have a physical just like everyone else expect theirs involves different things lifting and walking and doing a duck walk Its there physical was the reason I got sent home because I couldn't get under a freakin line on a wall and "Duck walk". Im 6'4 I am pretty big as far as weight(Me in a bus for 20 hours with dumb ##### trying to lean their chair back I all most kicked someones ###) I was able to duck walk I was just not able to get under their "Line" on the wall. I can get under the truck and look at what I need to look at it. To make sure everything is good. They use a line on a wall to DQ me how stupid is that. Oh and on top of that we pull into the hotel so I could get my stuff to go home and the manager gets assaulted right in front of everyone the driver of the van steps and and knocks the guy on his ### but it was crazy two guys were arguing the manager was asking them to leave and he just all of sudden attacked him hit him in the face and started kicking him cause he went to the ground then he takes off.

OH and then there was a guy on the bus that started to argue with the driver it got pretty heated. He was pissed because he put things in his seat and they needed that seat for a person. He saw I didn't have anyone next to me but who the hell is going to sit next to me with me being 6'4 and big my legs were cramped in there so bad. ANYWAY enough ######## from me

I know this stuff happens but man I am getting a lot of it and in a large dose lol. If I don't hear something by Friday I am looking for another company I can't do this.

It REALLY sucks cause I don't want to start over I DO NOT want to start over but I may have to just thinking about it sucks
