    I HAVE A DREAM!
I dream of a trucking company that:

Pays for every mile you MUST drive to pick up and drop off a load!
Maintains every tractor and trailer in their fleet! (Puts air in the tires, adjusts the brakes, fix the lights, etc. on a routine schedule while in the terminal.)
Does their best to get their drivers home for family time on a regular schedule to the best of their ability in the real world.
Is entirely truthful with all of the companies they do business with to the best of their abilities.
Is entirely truthful with their drivers and other employees to the best of their abilities.
Refuses to do business with any sorry companies that refuse to have even the most basic respect for drivers.
Encourages their drivers to be safe and legal at all times rather than pressuring them to drive outside the hourly limits or overweight and with unsafe equipment.

I don't know of any trucking company that meets those basic requirements, do you?
    If so, let me know.

Well, since this is the "New Drivers" thread, I assume none of them would know of any companies like that ;-)

Yup. USF Reddaway. Awesome carrier that treats their employees really well on the condition that you do your job and don't break anything. I get daily hometime and easily clear $250-$300/night. I am a fairly new driver and got picked up right away. Don't let anyone tell you it can't be done!

Yes, that was my mistake being new to this forum. But it is to the new driver's advantage to read it. Lucky them. Two good companies to check out. Any more?

I work for a private company, get paid hub miles plus hourly at soon as arrive at shipper or receiver. Don't have to worry about detention. It's a great company only 12 drivers and only hire when someone leaves or retires, usually about every 5 yrs have an opening. It took me almost 3 yrs to get hired and will probably never leave.

Yes, that is the best option if you can work more than 14hrs/day when needed. But being in poorer health I had to work safely within my means. I needed my rest. that is why I didn't go owner/operator.
