First of all, I don't know why he would be giving gross numbers out, we live and die by to the truck around here, you sure your weren't talking to a LS recruiter? And you must have been talking about van freight or dead areas.

well if ya ate breakfast and then went down for a nap , you weren't really looking for a load , huh. if while you were asleep you missed a call you got passed over. you can go to the bathroom , leave your phone in the truck and miss out on a load. if you don't answer when they call you get passed over, they don't call you til you answer. you got to be proactive in finding loads, any joker that's goes to sleep after unloading in the morning aint hot on the trail of a load. next time stay awake. remember you got to wear big boy pants here at mercer.

at least ya got a load anyway, you were asleep anyway whats the big deal?? sleep at night when you are supposed to. in this case the early bird got the worm and the sleepy one got left in the dust. LOL

dude , you totally misunderstood something, mercer only quotes to the truck figures, the fleet avg is around 1.71 for loaded and empty miles . and the true fact of life is some places feight coming out may well be lower than other areas, its that way for everyone, the trick is being smart enough to not take loads to those dead areas. and the fact is sometimes you may get caught in an area and have to take a cheap load, it happens, you just suck it up and chalk it up to experience. and at mercer you don't HAVE to take anyload, the choice is up to you. how good the choices you make determines your fate.

I would say he is right and don't come to us. Lol I'm lying but I personally see freight as weak for everybody so I wouldn't mind if ya didn't come to Mercer. So there is more for us. Lol

Besides looking at our load board, which had nothing but NE freight, and calling the local agent, what else was I to do?

The load I got was from a agent in MO.

I got offered a load to PA, which I would have gone to a worse area and had to run a majority of the PA TurnPike. That wasn't happin' ;)

They keep hiring new contractors every week. One of our guys quit because he was only getting one load a week. He let that go for three weeks.

No recuriter said we only gross 1.30 to 1.65 mile.
I think he's just trying to rattle the cages here. Or he talked to another company. Even van freight is higher than that.
Someone offer him some of the Mercer koolaid and he'll be fine.

Anyone know how many trucks on now?

No guys, not trying to stir the pot. It was a Mercer recruiter at MATS 2 years ago. I sought out Mercer because I only live an hour away from Louisville and thought it may be a good fit. But then I realized I had a good thing were I was at. Maybe he lied to me so I wouldn't lease on after I told him I only wanted to run just a couple loads a month.

I just may call or visit Mercertown just to set the record straight but don't worry I won't be a threat to you with my limited revenue producing desires. I'm mostly retired after 42 years and I just run to supplement my wife's income and my social security. Sorry I got your cages rattled. Just wanted to get the other side of the story.
