Would taking TransAm be a mistake? I love all their benefits, training, and what tey have to offer but the whole fleet is automatic...that's the only down fall

Go LTL. You will be home every night, get paid really well, and your benefits will be great. Don't let anyone on this forum discourage you from applying. I am out west, and the first thing I did after graduating CDL school was to get on board with an LTL carrier.
BigX72 Thanks this. -

Thats a company i was looking at too and I didn't want to do a automatic but I liked everything else about them. They even have nice trucks. I'm going with Roehl since its a good match for myself but Ttrams Am did look good until the automatic.BigX72 Thanks this. -
Con-way has a LTl division. I never looked into it. Research it a little.

I defiantly in to weighing out all my options. Can you give me some company names that do LTL?
-
YRC, USF Reddaway/Holland (owned by YRC), Old Dominion, FedEx Freight, Saia, Con-way Freight, ABF, NPT, and MTS (just to name a few). Come join us under the LTL folder, also see this post that will give you info on getting on board with an LTL carrier without experience. The fact that you graduated from a CDL school will help you that much more. Good luck!!!BigX72 Thanks this.

In my opinion, I think you should also look into PRIME INC. I have a buddy who pulls refer for them and he's happy.

If you believe you can go to a truck driving school and immediately go anywhere and start working locally, chances are you will be wrong.
If the truck driving school tells you that you will have no problem getting hired locally, they are lying. They just want your money.
Dock work- you will be stuck for years doing part time job waiting for a driving position to open up.
Coke, Pepsi- jobs hard to get, mostly seasonal, back breaking.
Even trash haulers are hard to get, they want experience. -
Sorry you were looking for companies that train and I got distacted by someone's response.
