Since when is 2500-3000 a lot of miles? Certainly doesn't suggest the need to run illegal. Sounds like someone needed to keep the door shut
GORDON TRUCKING is a sespool for drivers!!!!

My trk is governed at 57 and I hate it but use to it because i'm a local driver. But OTR and drive for a company with 60 mph trks,no way!!!!!!!.Makes it for a real long day. Then trying to pass somebody a tad slower then you are.I know companies wanna watch the fuel but it's like how do drivers get anywhere. That slow on the open highway would make me tired.

Its a real CESSPOOL of information.
joseph1135, NoCoCraig, Hitman and 1 other person Thank this. -
You have to "bend the law" to get 2500-3000 miles in a week?
pattyj, truckinmike1984, FLATBED and 1 other person Thank this. -
Hmmm... Long day, you say?
I drive a 62 mph truck, and I have the same 11/14/70 hr clock as anyone else. My days are no longer than anyone else.
I really don't care! My loads are dispatched @ 50mph. So I run 60, and I have all the time I need for fuel, food, piss, and rest.
If you can't handle the governed speeds and being a company b**ch, then go find something else to do. But as long as someone else signs your paycheck, you have to deal with their policies.
The big corporate carriers are here for people like me: inexperienced and unable/unwilling to buy a truck and run for themselves.
$.26-.36/mile too little for you?
Hate eLogs?
Hate dealing with corporate bureaucracy?
Sweet!!!
Shut up, get your own rig, pay your own expenses (payments, insurance, fuel, maintenance, etc.), find your own loads, and change your own world.
Don't want to work that hard (like me)?
Then deal with it. Life is a teeter-totter. Its give-and-take. You cannot have it all.truckinmike1984 Thanks this. -
I'm sorry, but I have to step up here. I'll admit I have a personal beef with GTI, but I have not seen what is described here.
Run illegal? I was asked once (on paper logs) to "re-examine my logs" to see if I could do the load. I responded over QC that I would not rewrite my logs. Never was asked that again.
Failed loads? Only one was marked against me in 11 months. That one WAS MY FAULT (forgot about a time zone change on my 1st eastbound long run)
. All others were on time, except weather delays or late dispatch.
Speed limits? Company speed is limited to 62-63. Also on the newest rigs, they do performance based speed limits via the trucks computer. MPG of 7.2 or better gets you 63 mph, etc.
Forced Chaining? Good luck, buckwheat. I'm the man on the scene; I make the safety calls. That said, I'm not too shy about running on chains. But I have said "it's too nasty, I'm shutting down" without complaints.
Miles were not bad. A bad week for me was 2600 miles. My base pay was .33/mile plus a .02 kicker for being T/C. Paychecks were mostly accurate (occasion mistake immediately corrected)
My complaints were stealing a load from me after I'd put in 13 hrs getting it ready and taking break to run all night outside of my run cycle. (up at 4 am to deliver, drive 3 hrs to shipper, get trailer washed, drop the trailer to be loaded, take break while being loaded so I could drive at night, THEN have them switch the load) This debacle cost me 700 miles. Also over the last 2 months they'd been messing with my home time; scheduling me home late until I complain, calling me off home time 3-8 hrs early, etc. Loaning my truck out with my gear on board and not telling me, etc.
GTI isn't perfect, but it's not a bed of nails, either. Some of the keyboard monkeys are screw-ups. They forget posted home times and want to push blame to the driver (no one wants to take responsibility anymore). 11 months there and I never once met my DM, or FM. The DM or planners become annoyed when you demand required maintenance is done.Victor_V Thanks this. -
I've seen the GTI trucks... They have the Qualcomm MCP200 in them, as I have with Stevens. Could someone please explain how you can "bend" the HOS laws with eLogs?truckinmike1984 Thanks this.

Come on now! You should know that you can't introduce facts into a rant about a "sespool"
truckinmike1984, NoCoCraig and joseph1135 Thank this. -
Ha ha ha. I think the problem is, and I've spoken about this before, drivers expecting a company to bend over backwards for them. You can make anywhere a good place to work, if you're willing. So far so good here. Gotta remember, the only "perfect" company is the one you build. There are nice terminals here, trucks are a bit more equipped than an average fleet truck, and for a NW company, the pay is above average. When I talked to others in the Northwest, pay ranged from .24 to .30. That's not rookie wages either, I've got over 10 years out here. Good insurance goes a long way too.
truckinmike1984 Thanks this.
