I hope everyone at the yard is ok... I have family that was in the tornado on May 15th in Cleburne, TX. so I know how frustrating it can be...
I was wanting to see if someone could give me some information..
I have filled out an application and I have been in contact with Vickie. I have a few questions for the drivers out there that are current employees please.
How is the physical? Do they do a sleep test?
How good is the insurance? When does it kick in?
Vickie states no forced NYC is that true or do they give you grief about not going there?
Also, how is the starting pay per mile?
Any answers would be great!
Thanks and stay safe everyone!

-The physical is just like any other DOT physical. They do a physical agility test tho that includes lifting 50lbs onto a shelf repeatedly, carrying it, etc, and then checking your heart rate. They do it to make sure you wont die if you have to restack a pallet that fell over. Although I didn't have one, I'm sure they will do a sleep test if you are big enough. Sleep apnea is a big deal in this industry nowadays.
-Don't get me started on the insurance. I have been having a big issue with them trying to pry way too hard into my personal life. I'm about to cancel it, but it kicks in after 90 days.
-It is true that there is no forced NYC dispatch, but don't be surprised to find yourself staring at Manhattan from across the Hudson or taking the GW and the cross-Bronx every now and then. They do offer some kind of "hazard" pay for delivering there though. I think it's $50 or $100.
-Starting pay depends on how long you were at your previous employer. $.34 at the low end...$.37 at the high end.
Hope that helps!
As for me, I am finally on my way home. I have a load that picked up in Tulsa and delivers in Ocala on Fri am, but I'll be there tonight. Maybe they'll take it early. Fingers are crossed.
