I would rather see someone explain to stockholders why "several thousand Newbies are quitting" after promoting their companies.

No problem there . They'd tell stockholders they billed a couple of thousand newbies $6,000 because they failed to complete their employment obligation . These 2,000 plus the 2,000 that replaced them meant 4,000 drivers running team for 6 weeks at $300 a week .

So i was not expecting 3 pages of replies in one night lol.
To landstar, i know you were busting my balls, its all good lol.
I have the money to buy my own bus ticket if need be, I was simply curious because I've had multiple drivers mention it over the 4 years I've been driving. When I turn the truck in I can buy my own ticket home if need be, my thinking was simply if there were such a law, why should I pay for it.
As to all the unhelpful people calling everyone a whiner, please reread the OP, as I did no whining, but simply asked a question regarding laws and regulations.landstar8891 Thanks this. -
If I was going to resign I would not trust the company to get me home. I would put some travel cash aside before I call it quits. some companies will get you home and take it out of your last pay and some companies could care less. I never heard of a law that requires them to get you home tho

Here is what i used to do many years ago....
When i new i was DONE.I would make sure i had all what was coming to me..If it was 1 or 2 weeks pay i would NOT QUIT...I would get a DR's excuse and stay home till every single check cleared..Then i owed them nothing and they owed me nothing...
Then i would be done and call them and give them there truck back..Then i would have ''saftey'' sign papers to the fact the truck came back in great shape and very clean..I would then tell them i want a ticket home and send it to my home ASAP.No funny business..Once i had ticket i would make arrangements to drop truck off...
Then i would be on my merry way....Always CYA....COVER YOUR ###mcgoo422000 Thanks this. -
I have heard those rumors over the years. There is no law I know of, but back in the day, a credible company would pay to send you home (if they paid to get you there). It has to do with company policy. Most companies don't care enough any more to send you home.

See someone thinks like I do. Get your money, get yourself clear and get yourself home.landstar8891 Thanks this.

Even if you had a Dr.'s excuse I bet some would send a driver to get the truck , charge you for it , and hold your pay .

Have you ever gone back to a company when you've gone the "medical" route? I'd want to see a release stating you were ok to drive before allowing you back in a truck. Might be difficult to get if there was nothing wrong with you in the first place.

Depends on the company, I know a company that have allowed drivers to stay at home with tractor and trailer for more than 30 days with no contact.
