I'm studying for the permit and I think I'm stressing myself out. Honestly how on earth can you remember everything for that test? I know that it's not possible to learn everything just by studying only a week but I really wish I could so I could have the confidence to take the test now. Any hints for someone who has fried their brains from studying?
Studying but feeling overwhelmed.

advice: relax...... you can always take the test again. just go in and try. think of it like this. if you fail. you don't have to pay. plus you will have a better idea on what to study for.

I took the CDL book the DMV gives you for free to the testing office and sat their for a hour and read through the book that way it will be fresh in your head. The test are not hard. Also there are practice tests you can take on this site. Just look at the top of the page and click CDL practice tests.

Honestly its easier than it seems its all key words if you have practice tests with answers read all of them then read the book and surely you will pass you will actually zoom thru it unless you suffer from attention deficit disorder.

Just Google CDL practice tests.
Arizona..Fats Thanks this. -
Yes there is alot to study and know.I studied for 3 months for the hazmat and thats the biggest chapter in the cdl manual.Don't try and study it all in one day.Study a couple hrs in the morning take a brk and go back to studying a few hrs later. You're not going to learn it all in a week.Just take your time and once you feel you're ready then take the many online cdl tests.Once you pass those then your ready to take the test and pass.

All of the comments are good advice - study a little, break, study some more. I can attest to the effectiveness of using the practice tests; I studied then took the practice tests then studied some more until I was able to get 100% on all of the practice tests. Also, I found that there are excellent videos on YouTube that are essentially 20-30 minute CDL courses for different tests. In Va. the tests are easy - I was surprised at how easy because the questions were nearly identical to the practice test questions. In the Va. CDL Study Guide the key terms / topics are highlighted in callout boxes or bold font and anything that has a number will be on the test; i.e. how many feet does it take to stop a tracker going 60 mph, tread depth steer and drive tires, etc. If it's a number memorize it! Have a test strategy - there are several dependent on your learning style; one very effective strategy which is applicable to the CDL test is POE. POE means Process Of Elimination - eliminate the answers to a question that do not make sense then the only answer remaining is the correct one.
I'm sure the practice tests on this site are excellent, but these are the ones I used:http://www.aitaonline.com/Info/CDL/Samples.html
Good luck. -
In Michigan you can skip questions and all you need is so many correct and then your done , don't really need to answer every question. You might have the option of reviewing the manual at the DMV Office if you don't pass the first test. And again here you can take it three times in one day. IMO take the practice tests on this site they can be a huge help. Just some advice from my corner.

Much of what is on the test involves common sense. I think you will find that the answer will come to you while you take the test. Just relax and don't over stress. Take your time when taking the test.

Wow guys, thanks for the help. I am amazed at that things that I am learning now but I guess that since I am learning something that is pretty foreign to me, there is a lot of pressure on me to learn it as fast as I can but I'm doing the pressuring. I should be fine, I'm 2 classes from my bachelors and in all my psychology classes I just listened, looked over my notes and made all A's. I just have to keep telling myself that I can do this.
