So what is your favorite/worst terminal in your opinion.
Heres mine:
Best - West Memphis
Worst - Denton, TX
Reasons, West Memphis has a huge parking area with fuel. It iis ideally located right in I-40. The mechanics always seem to be on top of things, and well, who doesn't like the safety guy.
Denton - Oh dang where do I start, the place itself is located in a storage unit, for some reason they won't give out the code to the gate so drivers can park after 9:30 pm, the mechanics are a joke, and not to mention Mr. Slack himself. I was literally told today "I'm sorry your truck is needing repairs, we won't be able to get to it until we clean the trucks of people who quit." Huh? So your gonna clean a truck, one of which is assigned to nobody BEFORE you will fix trucks that need to get back on the road? Anyone else see a problem here?

Best terminal - west memphis,ar reason as stated before a lot of parking good mechanics, and Lawrence in safety is a good guy.
Also like carlise,pa good mechanics, and staff just doesn't provide a lot for drivers.
Less fav. Denton,tx. Like driver stated before storage lot for a terminal, and don't give out gate pass to drivers. -
Sounds like this was written by the safety man himself. West Memphis is a dump. Nastiest terminal in USA TRUCK. How could anybody except Lawrence say it is the best. Ray tries to keep the place clean, but nobody ever told him you have to sweep before you mop, and rinse the mop often. The restrooms stink, sinks never cleaned, showers should be condemmed,. Yes there is lots of parking but so what? Truckstops have a lot of parking too and I hate to say it, cleaner restrooms.
We all know Denton sucks, its not a terminal, its a repair shop.
Carlisle is kept clean and has parking also, but it too is a repair shop.
Reopening Spartanburg would be a great idea, very clean and comfortable. Ok parking. -
West Memphis is the best terminal to be at if you need food and a load. Plenty of food options in the area and a lot of good loads coming through and getting dropped there. I dont like how they have cameras all over the place though. The rest of the terminals with the exception of South Holland are just big sticky pits with no empty trailers or freight in the areas. They could just shut them down fir all I care.

I took a trailer to the Denton terminal with a crapped out ABS ECM and the safety man told me it wasn't a DOT issue so they didn't need to fix it. I had to drop the trailer and refuse ti haul the load. I'd have to say Denton is the worst. All they do there is service and they don't even do that.

Vandalia was always my favorite. Lots of parking, I always had good dealings with the mechanics and the people at the service counter. Mark does a pretty good job of trying to keep the place clean and that's a hard job with the slobs we got. And you can drop your trailer and bobtail to the Kroger up the block to restock groceries.
Atlanta had to be the worst. Upstairs could be donated to science. I can't ever remember it being clean or seeing anyone there cleaning it. The shop well mama always said if you can't say nothing nice then don't say anything. Only plus is if you wait long enough the Chinese lady will be around every hour or so to see if you want any sweet tea and make an order. -
Atlanta has the best laundromat though

I like Vandalia. It has a festive atmosphere. Parking has not been removed like others..... However all are getting their act together on prepping tractors to distribute to newbies at them all.

I know I'm going back to Nov 2011-Mar 2012...but here WAS/IS my perspective(even though things have really changed NOW lol) West Memphis was really neat! HUGE! Lawrence was always REALLY cool to chat with. Mechanics weren't all great at all...other than about 2.....but they were ALWAYS busy(wonder why? lol). VB was kinda nice, meaning, I was there once and it was kinda a $hithole, when I was there with my trainer, I'm sure it has since been cleaned up! Vandalia was pretty much my "home away from home"! lol As I spent 75% of my time there, from a crappy truck. Mechanics were really nice....but didn't have a clue! Marc(Hawaian dude) and Stephanie were ALWAYS GREAT...but NO LONGER THERE! And the Janitor and James were ALWAYS awesome people! Atlanta was SMALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol But, Dave(terminal manager, dunno if he's still there?) was VERY respectful, mechanics FINALLY told USA my truck was total #####!(After 8 visits to vandalia and the mechanics BLEW 2 of my 4 batteries...and said I WASN'T LEAKING COOLANT! Although the HEAD was completely BLOWN, not to mention the turbo too! haha) WERE GREAT! Roanoke(RIP) was, well...to me.....just a terminal! Nothing too much to talk about! terminal Manager was lost....90% of the time, but really nice...the mechanics...well.....they just showed up for work! I didn't notice ANYTHING that made them "qualified" to fix trucks, other than the fuel island kid...he actually DID his job and knew more than the guys in the actual shop!
