Also funny how back in the day you old timers earned the equivalent of $100k plus a year for driving a truck. You could afford two steak dinners a day like it was nothing. Now you have guys working for 50k annually which when adjusted for inflation would probably be about 20k a year back in the 70's and 80's. That's why these guys want inverters probably...so they can survive while working for these worthless bottom feeder companies.

that's a shame on idiot screws it up for all of us. but more and more companies are doing away with inverters. and inverters are hard on batteries as well. iv'e seen pics of trucks burned down makes my wonder if some a hole have to have everything plugged in all at the same time and burns the dam truck down
-
Actually. Heartland has started installing 1500w inverters in all the newer trucks. Basically any that are not due to be traded in the next year will be getting one, at company cost. Still cannot carry your own. But in the next few months most if the fleet will have them installed. Big leap for Heartland. Did not think I would ever see the day.
Skydivedavec and RizenPhoenix Thank this. -
Also funny is how the value of the dollar has fallen much more than our wages have been adjusted to compensate.

this from a guy who wasn't born before cell phones
truckon Thanks this. -
This sounds fishy
Both of my small 400 watt portable inverters will shut down if you overload them. Additionally they have two fuses on the inverter a fuze in the plug and a fuse in the trucks fuse panel. it would be easy for a driver to put a bigger fuse in and wire a larger inverter to a plug. If this was done you could cook the wiring in the truck.
Realistically the plugs in a truck are probably rated at 30 amps max. This would limit the size if the inverter to 360 watts. -
heck Pete, I ain't that young!!!

Thirty years ago we didn't have all the technology we have today. Thirty years ago, I bet you were treated better by the carrier(s) you were driving for. Also, as one grows older, one is less adept in technology. Consequently, you don't care much about it. But others do. As the wife of a driver, I would much prefer to be able to have my own small fridge, and to be able to store my own fruit, milk, yogurt, etc., in a place where I know it will stay fresh. HEARTLESS EXPRESS is not a driver friendly company. They will do whatever is necessary to make the life of the drivers a living hell. And this one, being just one example.

Really? What cave wall did you get that from?
Speak for yourself. I know plenty of older people that are quite adept in technology. Just takes a willingness to learn. I consider myself in the adept and getting "adepter" category.
