These guys didn't plan their break and ran out of minutes on their e-log's "till break" countdown timer. They told me they were trying to make it to the truck stop 3 miles down the road. They didn't make it and that driver just parked it right in the go lane at this rest area I'm at.

They are just too lazy to spend a few minutes to do a planning trip i have seen drivers sleeping on the side of an exit ramp or a highway entrance, anywhere in a rest area it doesn't matter if its for car or not or no parking spot they will just pull in there and sleep because they are out of hours that doesn't make no sense to me at all and not doing a trip plan can get you in trouble or cost you a lot of money or violations.

Trip planning 100% will never be possible. What if there was no where to park between the last truckstop 67 miles back and the next rest area? A driver should not have to force a stop prior to his hours running out and cost himself miles or money. The carrier should be fined a few thousand dollars for "shutting" the truck down when time is up like this.
